I've just cleaned out Hugo so his whole faun was taken apart cleaned and put together, heat mat, stat, thermometer etc set up as usual. (Mat under faun, stat under faun on Heatmat and thermometer in faun where Heatmat is, so the temp shown is what Hugo will be feeling if that makes sense).

This has been working since last year perfectly well.

But now the temp won't get above 29.8! I need it to be sitting between 32-34 as it usually is, but the stat won't go any higher.

Do I need a new stat? Why would this change all of a sudden?

It's a digital thermometer and microclimate ministat 100 if that helps. Also, Hugo's a hognose so needs slightly higher temps than a corn

He's a hognose Eeji don't worry I've always kept him at these temps and he's done great.

Well I changed the batteries in the thermometer and all is well again! Noticed not long after posting this that the digital numbers were fading, and when I set it back up again it's working as normal!

32-34??? you'll cook the poor lad! It only needs to be around 27-28

You sure the mats not knackered rather than the stat?
LadySybil Posted - 15/02/2015 : 13:03:55
I would check with another thermometer if you have one, just to make sure it is the stat.

I had the same stat and mine stopped working properly after about a year as well except mine just got hotter and hotter regardless of the temp I had it set at. It was just the same as having an unstated mat. I stopped using it and got a pulse stat and have had no issues since.
