I am just curious as to what you use for lighting a viv when you dont want it for heat? Ie purely for visual purposes?

Most of the websites that sell reptile stuff only seem to sell heat bulbs?

Thanks

Gaz

I dont use lighting. however it is aesthetically (sp?) pleasing.

If you do use lighting, make sure its sealed and gaurded appropiately.

I just use any bulb, although at the moment it's energy savers. Dunno why though, I only have the lights on when i'm in front of the vivs and they're only normally on for about 5 mins max.

Thanks both.

I wasnt aware that the flo strips could course problems due to flickering.

Might go down the LED route.

Thanks

I dont have any of my vivs lit, though I think you can use certain colours of uv lights because they wont disturb your snakes. Stay away from fluorescent strip lights as they flicker so fast that we cant tell but your snake can, and it really bothers them.
