Just explain to your Sister that if she wants one shes commiting to keep it for 10-15years and that its VITAL that they get fed and they get the proper size enclosure for them and that she cant just get one just coz she likes the look of them, there easy to look after as LONG as you have the right equipment. Just basically explain to her that shes cant get something if she cant evven afforf food or gas then Corns are a NO NO |

Also ask her if she minds getting bitten. Even though they don't really bite, why don't you also try exaggerating the potential bad points. |

Just tell your sister not to be so selfish, and get a corn snake when she can actually afford it. She has to consider the welbeing of the snake first, no mater how bad she wants one. It would be extremely cruel of her to get a snake and then not being able to look after it properly. What's she gonna do when she realises she doesn't have any cash to provide heating or food for her snake? There's already too many cases like this out there. (Sorry to sound a bit harsh, but I'm an animal lover... ;)) |

If she gets the complete set-up, then changes her mind and/or can't look after it, then co-habiting shouldn't be a problem, as you could take the other viv as well. |

I agree with kehhlyr. some people treat their pets better than they treat themselves so thats something to bare in mind. if shes dead cert that shes going to buy a corn snake, sit her down and feed her your knowledge about how to care for it. tell her the costs and even advice her on a setup that includes the thermostat (many people forget that part). worse case scenarios you could take care of it and if thats too much hassle look after it till you can rehome. There are a suprising amount of people willing to rehome corn snakes. Oh just in case might be worth starting with a yearly that feeds well and from what i gather they are also easier to rehome |

I would be careful with taking the snake off her. People who won't look after their pets shouldn't have one. Next thing you know it could be a puppy, a kitten, a bird and she will know you will take them when she gets bored of them. |

Make a list of all the things she will need with prices next to them (make the list with the most expensive makes) then make an estimate of how much food & electricity costs there will be per month show her the list & watch her turn pale lol, then once she realises she cant afford it, she might wait till shes better situated(finacialy) and then get a corn snake that she can care for the proper way. |

That is actually a very good point, my step-sister used to do this regularly with animals (rabbits, guinea pigs etc). If she got bored of them (as spoilt 9 year olds do), they'd have to get 'rehomed'. |
