The basics you'll need are: Faun or viv, depending on the size of the snake. - Fauns are about £5 from wilkos. heat mat - Anywhere between 5-12 quid stat - anywhere between 18 and 35 quid. hides - you can pay from a few quid upwards, or get some loo roll tubes or flower pots as well. I also use a paper bowl from the hospital. Substrate - paper towel, newspaper or wood chips (nothing with pine or cedar) water bowl - anything clean that holds water will do, but nothing that spills to easily, so a saucer is no good.
All together if you were to pay expensive prices it'd be about 50-60 quid, not including the snake.
Depending on where you are, standard amels can go for about 20 quid. Whereabouts are you? I might've missed something for the setup as well, but hopefully not.
Also remember that you'll have to get mice for food as well, which can range from 30p each up to a quid each.

Sorry, forgot about a thermometer as well. Ideally a digi one, you can get these for about 3-4 quid posted from hong kong on ebay, or anywhere from a fiver upwards in fishy shops.
We've got 3 members on here that are within 30 miles of you, so they may be able to point you in the direction of a decent shop as well. Or someone may know a decent shop near you.
Alternatively, we have members on here that are due hatchlings in the coming months so that's also give you time to get things setup and get your mum used to the idea.
Getting research and setting things up yourself is always a good way to prove to mum that you're serious and can do it. |

If your getting a hatchling then most likely once your mum see's the corn snake she will go awwwwwwww its tiny how cute!... well thats what my mum did & she was scared of them, just to add to whats already been said you can get a normal from £20-£30 but you can also get many different morphs some which could cost you up to around £600, so theres a choice for whatever your tastes are really :) |

Good to keep your eyes open for a rehome/Full setup for sale. There one in my local paper at the moment £25 for full set up and an adult Carolina corn (like lees snake Gypsy in his sig). BARGIN! And it's sometimes easier to get an older snake as your first as they tend to be alot more chilled. |
3.2.0 corns 0.3.1 Leopard Geckos, 0.1.0 Mad Staffys 1.0.0 Moggie. 1.2.0. Devils in training.

cobham? Wow I'm in Farnham!
Welcome to the site btw. Well I got 3 corns and a viv for £100. But my female snow passed away and sold my carolina.
Just have to be lucky I guess, keep bargain hunting, preloved is a good one but all northerners selling or too far from me I got my guys from Havant so theres always the possibility |
