that I have just become the proud owner of a Corn snake? He is petrified of anything reptile (despite thinknig himself quite a hard man) and when I mentioned it last week he said he would leave me if I got one. I thought that was a little extreme and I really wanted one that needed rehomeing, so I did it anyway... Any guesses on the bset way to tell him, or shall I hope he doesnt notice the large tanks and rustling noises in the night...?
Help!!!

Option 1 - Hide it
Option 2 - Tell him to man up
Your choice

LMAO - 6 years ago my husband told me if i got a snake he was leaving, we now have 9 including 2 boas! he loves them to bits.
How you tell him is up to you but if he cant even try to get over it for you then he doesn't deserve you. Make a deal with him, like you'll only get the snake out/feed it when he's not around and you wont tell his mates he a pansey if he doesn't winge about it??
Good luck with the new addition, |

Welcome ^^
You may as well just tell him, as he'll realise eventually :P By having one, it might help him get over his fear too!
My girlfriend was terrified of spiders, but I got a tarantula and she was fascinated by her - and is no longer scared of them much. Same for my mum, who was uneasy around snakes; but after a while.. She really started to like him, and now always comes up to say hello to him ^^ |

Hi everyone!
Thanks for the replies and advice :-).
I'm going to be a pansy and just hide him for a while. After all we don't live together so he's not round my house that much. After that... i quite like the Tizzy aproach but I think he would probably die of shock either way that way. In the end the snake doesnt take any space in the bed, doesnt admit noxious odours and doesnt want to watch bad TV till 1 in the morning so there isnt really any competition!
FoleyIsGood - Are there any websites for rehoming wimpy boyfriends?
Anyway, thanks for all the replies, lovely to 'meet' you all.
Now I just have to think of a name for the poor little chap (the snake not the boyfriend...) |
