This months competition you can submit a picture of any animal, whether it's a pet, a wild animal, an animal in a zoo, a photo of an ugly fish you took while diving... you get the idea, any animal picture as long as it was taken by you!

As aways, here are the rules:

COMPETITION RULES:

1.ALL ENTRIES MUST BE IN THIS THREAD - Any entries outside this thread will have to be deleted -
Each month will have it's own thread from now on. (just helps me find the entrants when the competition is over)

2.ONE ENTRY PER USER - Choose your best entry please.

3.ENTRIES FROM THE UK ONLY PLEASE - We have some large prizes to give away in the future and due to postage costs we're sorry to say for now we can only post to the UK.

Yes, German Shepherd cross Akita, soft as anything. The boys pin used to pin him down with chairs and he'd just look at us as if to say 'help'. But if someone came to the door that he didn't know there's not a chance they'd get in without us! Unfortunately he's no longer with us, but still love the pic.

Thanks, it's errr a little complicated lol, I don't own a dedicated macro lens but use a 40D DSLR, with a 1.4x tele-converter (increases the working distance to bugs) attached to a set of extension tubes (brings the minimum focus distance of a lens down to get really close) attached to an 85mm prime lens with a 430EX flash mounted on the camera. Hopefully the pictures explain that...

Closest shot possible with a penny:

Hope that makes sense, always happy to answer more questions, you may all have guessed that reptiles is my 2nd hobby

p.s. sorry if you already knew all of that and found that patronising

I'm picking this one- just because I like Monkeys (they remind me of Lewy)

Snapped this one in Gibraltar, he's a Barbary ape from off the rock!

He had just stole those crisps from a middle aged Spanish lady!
I like the look on his face. it's like he's saying 'come and get them back if you think your hard enough, seņora!'
