Hi Cornsnakejames - Erm... yes this is cheating! also any links from other forums or any other websites that are doing the same thing can be traced and cheaters will be disqualified from the competition. Plus if everyone did this we'd have a forum full of "vote for me" posts.
Will let it go this time, but if it happens again from anyone they will have to be withdrawn from the competition. If your entry is good you'll get the votes - that's how it works.
