I've just been and bought a habistat mat stat and 'll be honest i am totally confused about how to set it up! Im being proper dim i know but i dont want to get it wrong! Could someone give me a step to step guide of how to get it working?
No shame in asking. The stat has 3 cables (sensor, mains and heater). Plug the heat mat into the heater cable plug socket on the stat, then plug the mains cable into your house mains. If your using a viv, drill a hole and put the probe on the end of the senstor cable on the substrate above the heat mat. If your using a faun/tub with a heat mat on the outside, tape the probe directly onto the mat.
You will need a thermometer to set the stat. Go by what the thermometer says, not the numbers on the stat. Any more questions just ask.
But if you tape it directly onto the mat your giving off the wrong temp then, coz by the time it gets through the faun bottom and substrate etc.. the temp will be different?
Thanks for the advice guys. Think i've finally got it working lol. Feel very silly that it took me that long to figure it out Have ordered new digi thermometers to replace the really basic ones ive got a the mo and hopefully then i can have it set up far more accurately
