Hi all,

Got my first snake today.
Anery, 5 weeks old. Beautiful.

I'm leaving him/her to its own devices at the moment and not fussing with it but it seems to have dug into the aspen bedding and has stayed there.

I guess its a protection thing as its hidden (even though I have two hides) and warm.

How old are they before they get a bit more adventurous as I wouldn't mind being able to see the pet that cost me so much in setup fees etc?

Cheers

Joe

depends mine go in stages i have had one from when it was just a few weeks old and she didnt really come to life for about 6-9months and had one from when he was about a year and and it took him about 9 months to really settle in. dont worry bout not seeing them you have got them for upto 20ish years so ou will see them alot over that time. the first initial novelty wears off but then you get to understand thier own snakeism's(yes i have just made a word up) and get to enjoy them for who they really are and how they act. i have decided that snake only become pets after 6 or so months when they know you and you know them

Yea some take long to settle in, remember to human standards snakes lead quite a boring lift, spending most of their time hiding away, so its nothin to worry about. I hardly ever see Noodle only when hes out to shed, or get a drink and just general handling with him

Most snakies love to burrow as like you said it's secure and makes them feel safe. Once he's setteled in and feels a bit more comfortable, I'm sure he;ll come out to explore. More likly after a few feeds, one he knows that you're no danger, and then he won't feel scared every time he sees you.
