i have fallen in love with blue geckos, and really want to own some, have seen them in my local reptile specialist, i have terrium that is right size, but they quoted me nearly 300 quid for lighting set up, ive also been told by another reptile specialist that is over the top, i have no idea as i have only owned snakes up until now, can anyone help!!

Not sure about geckos, but 300 notes does seem a bit steep for lighting.

If it's anything like Beardies (UVB and Basking lamp) then you should be able to get the whole lot of kit for 50-60 quid, and that's what I'd call quite a high price anyway.

Possible they were saying 300 quid for COMPLETE set-up.

But 300 for just lighting??? I think someone may have been wanting some holiday spending money.

But Again, I can't definately say for sure, as I don't keep geckos but i wouldn't of thought the lighting setup would be much different and 50 quid for lighting only is roughly what i'd put on it.

hey. a gecko set up is pretty much the same as a beardie one except glass vivs such a exo terra ones are better than wooden ones. i looked into it and for a complete set up and gecko i was quoted £130. hope that helps.
