Hi,

I'm new to this forum and new to corn snakes so please excuse me if this is an old question but:

We got our first snake yesterday, he's about 8" long and about as thick as a pencil. I was told he was about 2-months old!

He was last fed on 3rd November so should we leave him 7-days from then or 7-days from yesterday?

Thanks!

you should always leave a new corn to settle in for a week just to get used to its surroundings and relax :) welcome to the forum :)

So that would be about 11-days since his last feed? Would he OK with that being so young?

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome As above ^^^^ i know its hard, you want to get him out and play, you worry that he'll get hungry if you dont feed him but remember you have years ahead of you to enjoy all those things so let him have a little time to settle down and get used to the new suroundings.

And in 6 days we expect to see pictures!

Hi
Welcome to the forum.
I second what the other members have told you. I'd just like to add that you need to leave him for 48 hours after each feed too so he can digest his meal in peace.
Look forward to the photos!

Well thanks for all the replies, I look forward to getting some photo's of him to post!

At the moment he is in 1/3rd of an Exo Terra Faunarium with some paper towel, half a kitchen roll and a water dish with the heat mat only covering half of that 1/3rd. The guy in the reptile shop advised this as he is only small. (I put the divider in so 2/3rds is empty apart from one of my daughters socks near the air vent so he can sense them). He is quite active, often coming out and going up the sides.

He is a black and white sort of colour, an Anery (or so I'm told)!

I did have a Garter Snake about 20-years ago but nothing since. My daughter (who is 13) really wanted a snake and as I had an interest myself, we went for it!

We also have a working GSP, 2-Patterdale Terriers (also both working dogs) and a Guinea Pig so he's in good company and I believe a pet is for life so he's here to stay!

Again, thanks for all your welcomes and I'm sure I'll be pestering for a while with what will seem like obvious questions!! (If you ever need advise on dogs though, I'm sure I'll be able to help)!!!
