its coming to the first feeding of my corn snake im defrosting the mouse at room temp as sugested ive also been told that my snake may take the food more readily if the mouse is slighty warmer is this true

I usually defrost mice mice and rats in a bowl placed over another bowl containing quite warm water. The bowl that has the mice/rats in sits so that the bottom of the bowl just touches the water. Like this it helps with the defrosting and helps to warm the mice/rats. I change the water towards the end of defrosting so that it warms the mice/rats nicely.

I think most of us give our snakes warmed mice.

10-20 second blast with a hair dryer is what we do.......we even have hair driers specifically for mouse/rat/rabbit warming purposes


of course this is because i never bother properly drying my hair and dazb doesn't have enough hair to worry about

cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos
