Well after the worries of patricks weird pooing and a negative test on the sample, I'm now wondering what to feed him. Since he passed the partially digested mouse he has become alot more active during the evenings, so i'm wondering if it was a blockage that was causing the problems. The vet said it was a poop but i'm worried they may have got it wrong. Did i cause the blockage by lowering his temps from 40 c to 30 c and feeding alot smaller food item than he was use to having. He would normally be fed this evening but i don't know whether i should wait another week and should i feed a mouse again or go for a small rat weaner, he has always been fed on rats because he apparently hates mice! I think i'll be grey with worry by morning.  |

I found rats take longer to digest than mice... well I found. I don't know why maybe it's my silly snakes.
I also doubt you caused the blockage with temp, you have to think naturally they would be used to much colder temps in order to hibernate. |

Jus a quick question, did you mean 40C? Because to the best of my knowledge, thats wayyyy too hot for a corn.. should be 30C at the hot end maximum! I wouldn't be happy in 40C and I'm human!!  That said, I just came back from Vegas and it was 42C so hey...

I'm suprised he's still alive to be honest!!  When he pood this partially digested mouse, you sure it was a poo and not a regurge..? How long have you had him? I'm just wondering if he's a tad stressed with change of surroundings at all.. If you've had him a while it may just be an unexpected change, he should be back to normal in no time. No harm in offering him a feed of his normal take and letting him take it when he's ready. |

| The vet said it was poo but she admitted that she did not know much about snakes. I had it tested for worms you see. I have posted several times regarding this snake "Patrick" because of his beahviour and background. Poorly kept by previous owners etc. I've had him just over a month now and he was very stressed by the move though he did come with his viv so that was some comfort to him. He is agressive but i feel this is nervous agression caused by his previous owner. So if he was yours you would offer him something to eat and let him decide if he wants it or not? He has refused 2 feeds with us previously and has eaten once. |

| I only mention regurge just cos I've not really heard of corns passing food that quickly through their systems.. Did you give him 7 days to keep himself to himself after the travel? If not, this may have contributed to his extra fussiness. Maybe give him a few extra days of peace and quiet and then introduce some gentle handling in 5 min sessions and reintroduce him slowly to everything. When I moved my corn (who's 11YO) up to uni with me from home, she went crackers- didn't know what to do with her! I brought her up in the same Viv and everything she'd been using for nigh on all of her life! Just be patient and attentive to how they're acting and you should be able to work things out. When he realises he's in a better place, he'll feel more like playing ball |

| He passed the partially digested poo two and a half weeks after eating it! I have left him totally alone since I had him only doing spot cleans and water changes. He is feeling more confident I know as he was slithering about yesterday evening for the first time. I'm not to worried if he doesn't want to be handled that does not bother me really as long as he feels comfortable in his surroundings thats fine with me. |

Regurge and Poo look very very different, and after 2 and a half weeks it certainly wouldnt be regurge, he would die before that ever happened.
Food wise, medium mouse, every 7 days, until his cycle starts to work again, once you are confident of that, 1 large mouse every 7 days is fine.
Personally, i dont think this snake is ever gonna be normal, i have given you my reasons on your other thread.
As for the temperature, bring him down to what he is supposed to be is right, hes not gonna evolve enough to cope with those temps in 2 years.
AS i said, its brain damage temperature, and that would cause your current problems. |

| Thanks everyone especially mikerichards for all your help and advise on Patrick. Whatever Patricks problems are if i can get him eating regularly i will be very happy. No doubt i will back posting on Patrick either because i'm worrying over something else or because of some good news on him. I have 3 other corns but i've never had so much worry over one. I'm going to try to just take a step back and see what happens. Thanks once again. |

| Thanks Mort13. I will still be about on here trying to offer help to others, though i am still learning. You really do come across some interesting things on here and get some ideas as well. I find that on some other forums a problem with a corn seems un-important to alot of members if it was burmese or something similar it would be a different matter. |
