How often should a hatchling shed? Shadow is doing great but he hasnt shed!
I havent seen any change to his size since I got him, he has put on maybe a gram or two, I think sometimes he looks a little dull but then his eyes look clear! They shimmer silver like rocks in a river, beautiful!

How often should he shed? I have Spagnum moss and a rub ready to go in his viv as soon as I see signs of shedding!

He's onto a pinkie and a fuzzie every 7 days now as they say to increase time as well as size of feeds! Should he be getting more than that since he is young to help with growth? Dont want him to be stunted if thats possible in snakes? Or over fed obviously.

If you need more info I have plenty!

oh

size 22"

weight 21-22g

aprox 8 mnth old

I can't be a lot of help other than to say if he is healthy then he will shed when he is ready and needs to. He may have just shed before you got him and that explains the long wait for you. I have an anery too and the first thing I notice apart from the shying away is the milky belly about almost a week before the eyes show any signs.

Milky belly? Do you mean his black scales go whiteish?

Yeah at its strongest the black belly scales look just off white. You can still make out the colour pattern but its nowhere near as vivid.

You wont miss it when it happens, its a long and fascinating (& frustrating waiting for the actual shed). Shadow looks bigger and a bit older than Spot so maybe he isn't growing quite as fast so doesn't need to shed as often, Spot so far has shed every 4 weeks but it slows as they get bigger.

Spot would be about 4 months, maybe 5, I forgot the DoB (oops, the rep guy as talking me through so much stuff) I dont know his length, but he's 21 grams (he was 10 grams 2 months ago and has shed twice). His head was really tiny and quite stubby when I first got him and his eyes were so boggled too but its more snake shaped now and he's growing into his eyes. He makes me laugh, he likes head butting my fingers out of his way so he can weave himself between them and found a pocket in a hoody I was wearing a disappeared in there for ages. I had to scoop him out, he was toasty warm.
