Hey everyone, hope you having a good start to the new year.

I've had Egon for a week and a half now, and everything seems to be going pretty much fine. I fed him last sunday, which went well, but ever since then, barring a couple of times, all he's done is just lay in his warm hide all day, not moving at all. He came out to poop at one point, which I cleared up, but otherwise he'll just sit in the warm hide and not come out at all.

It's probably nothing, but anything I should be concerned about? I was wondering if maybe he was due to shed soon, which is why he seems to shy and lazy. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Cheers.

Medusa's been doing this all week after I fed her on Sunday and I was worried about her being grumpy and hiding :( low and behold she came out last night and her eyes are 'blue' so I think Egon may be shedding:)

I did wonder if that was the case, because before that, he was always out and about climbing on things and falling over, haha.

He's due a feed today, do you think it's worth trying to get him to eat, or to just leave him to it?

Thanks, by the way! :)

yeah my corns are normally quite active tho often only at night when most people would be asleep. is it possible yours is coming out and climbing etc when your in bed? you say you havent had him long so maybe it just took him a while to get used to the day/night cycle? in the wild i believe they are a dawn/duak snake.

Have you been handling him, you say you fed last Sunday which means he wasn't given the 7-10 days settling in period, he may be hiding away because of this but as he did eat and properly digested the meal I wouldn't think he is stressed out so he's either just settling in still or starting the process of shedding. Attempt to feed today and just see if his colouration is faded, especially check the belly, my snake has a checkerboard belly but his belly goes almost completely white about a week before his eyes cloud over (he has actually been in hiding for 2 days now so I'll be checking his belly). If he is looking faded or his eyes have clouded remember they can be more defensive and if he gives you all the "leave me alone" signs, then just leave him alone, it won't do any harm to miss a meal or two.

Well he did feed earlier, and had a quick slither about before that, so maybe it was just nothing. I haven't handled him yet, as I left it a while before and after feeding. Was going to do it yesterday, but thought I wouldn't risk it in case he is shedding or anything.

I think he may be a bit faded, he doesn't look as red as he did when I first got him, and his belly is very light.

Since he's fed now, not much I can do but leave him be anyway for a few days, anyway, right?

Handled him earlier on today, and after the initial first shock, he was docile as anything, loved slithering around in my hands, though he did keep trying to go up the sleeve of my shirt! He also seemed rather amused by my tie, for some reason, haha! :S

He doesn't seem sluggish or anything, he just doesn't seem to move around much in his faun, or maybe he just does as soon as I'm not looking?

I noticed he has some little marks by his eyes, near his nose, could this be anything to do with shedding?
