£80 for 3 ft royal + 2 foot viv (may need an instant upgrade) heating etc.

I'm so incredibly tempted to go for it but it would be my first python are adults better or young/hatchling ones for a first timer?

Oh I'm excited but unsure. HELP!

what is being used to heat it at the moment, a royal that size requires lighting for the heating beit ceramic or bulb so be prepared for aditional costs if its on a mat. you may need to updgrade the stat also.

wether they are young or not they generally handle the same so not one or the other is better for first time. Also be prepared for LONG periods of time of it not eating, they are just like that.

edit- Ultimately it is up to you if you really want it or not. nick over and have a looksy at TRP spend the time looking through the posts and get a feeling for the royals.

If you feel you have enough knowledge about them then go for it.

I'm still doing my research and saw a real bargain today on preloved but will wait until later this year as I'm still learning.

Its a bulb heater, its not a bad set up its just what I would consider small for a big bodied snake like this Royal. I would upgrade the vivarium almost instantly and then have the ''problem'' of a free viv (you know what happens when that happens).

I have read up on them for a while now and feel I have a good understanding of what they require, but like you Louise32 I'd like to think I'm ready but would hate my inexperience to affect the snake at all. I think I am going to leave it for now, hopefully an experienced keeper can be found and thats got to be a better deal for the snake.
