Hahaha I am so glad you posted this so I know there is someone out there the same as me. My 14, nearly 15yr old is exactly the same. He has ADHD and yesterday I got a torrent of abuse because I dared to stand and talk to another mum for half an hour after football training. My youngest son also has ADHD and we have got a cupboard full of different toothpastes because he doesnt like them. The only one he likes is the sensodyne childrens toothpaste but he keeps insisting on trying all these different floavoured kids toothpastes because they are supposed to be nice. He is the same with paracetamol suspension as well. I could start a chemist with the different brands I have in my medicine cupboard as he only likes 1 particular make.

I love kids but could sure throttle them sometimes

I shall swap for a 17 year old girl who is very polite and well spoken, and is also brilliant at making cakes.

Just remember one thing, in England it's legal to give your kids a nice decent crack round the chops so long as it leaves nothing but a temporary red mark. A quick drive over the border, slap, drive back. Job done.
Kids get away with loads nowadays don't they?? When I was naughty when i was younger, we got a bloody good spanking from our mum, who then decided if to tell dad or not when he got home.
We were a lot more careful with how we spoke to our parents, or anyone else.

At 24 and living with my partner we occasionally enter into a discussion about when we should think about having children........ I'd like to thank you all for finally giving me a definite answer.

Next time I'm sat there on the sofa with the OH and the subject of babies comes up, I think it'll go a little something like this;

OH 'So....do you think we're ready for children yet?'
Me 'Not quite....'
OH 'Why do you say that?'
Me 'I haven't found a chainsaw large enough with which to control them'
OH 'So when do you want to have them...when you find the chainsaw?'
Me 'They don't make them big/sharp/loud enough....so lets just say never.....lets just get more snakes'

Ha ha ha!
My mother used to use a plastic fly swatter on me! I think I turned out just fine!

Tazer you say??? Suppose its the best non-lethal punishment on the market!
I might just find someone in the local area with a burm and threaten the child with '10 minutes in the snake hole' if he misbehaves

When i was young before all this "never smack ur children " thing became mad or the shouts of "im calling the nspcc on u mom!" if i was naughty id have a quick smack across the back of the leg (they always found the rite bloody spot that stung) or across the **** and that was it i made sure i behaved . when i got older i got the hairbrush thrown at me or something . My cousins tactic for young naughty child was to threaten to take him to the police station , he carried on so she took him and parked outside and he soon behaved lol!
We have had the kids debate....i used to really want them and the OH isnt realyl bothered wither way....i found myself saying the other day , we could just have more snakes?......

I never wanted kids but my OH did. Now I know why,he intended to do as little as possible with them....hence he's now my ex lol!
I wouldn't change things for anything as I love them dearly. I am however already thinking of turning one of their bedrooms into a snake room in the future. Got a while to wait though, they are only 9 and 10!!

I'm preparing myself for a massive hissy fit when I pick up my daughter today as I've just found out that no Coral Avalanches hatched out. She's not going to be a happy bunny at all as it was going to be her birthday pressie.

No we can have a grandads opinion as well.
I am a grandad of 5, all of them enjoy coming to grandads because they get to see the snakes.
They all get told off for doing what they shouldn't, the same way I used to tell my kids off, if they go to close to the pond, they get told once and never get told again, just punished. They are not allowed to move from wherever I put them when they are getting told off, until they tell me WHY i put them there. Even if it means me having to hold the little toe-rags down, I will.
They also get the extra treats, if we see fit. Also we get to give them back when they are dirty or have just added a small gift to a nappy.
Kids = horrible. Grandkids = Chance for revenge on kids.

Kids are great in a lot of other ways though, my youngest daughter was very much a daddys girl and she knew it, she had the ability to deny everything and I'd believe her, until one day when there was a Victoria sized handprint on Georges face. I told her I knew she was lying because a light comes on her forehead that only adults can see when she lies.
A couple times of mentioning that and she started covering her forehead with her hand everytime she told a fib. Worked brilliant.

/edited to add
I had the slap on the back of the legs and the hairbrush on the hands. It's strange how now that a vast amount of people wont (can't???) punish their kids that you end up with so many little groups of them trying to cause problems with others.
I would never dream of giving random abuse to people on the street for 'looking at me like that', yet so many do now. I believe it's to do with lack of discipline. Kids should be allowed to get punished in a sensible manner by the parents, naughty steps don't work with many now, a bloody good slap on the backside works wonders.

I'm sure someone once told me that the only reason supermarkets were made is because parents needed somewhere to bring their children to beat them.

Although I was about 14 or 15 when I was told that, so was valid then.
