Hi all, i'm Scott (aka Simmy). I dont own a Corn Snake as yet. But i am looking into / researching about getting one.
My brother inlaws partner has 3 Corn Snakes and on a recent visit i pummeled him with questions (which he answered). I've researched them before when i was younger (15-16), but that was a while ago.
I'm just here to get further information and ask questions etc before i make the final decision into getting one. I'll ask the questions in the relevant sections. |

Asked the questions i needed answers to in the "Corn Snake - General Keeping information" thread is that ok? I'm a fourm admin on a totally unrelated site so know it can be a pain with people posting in the wrong sections etc.
Thanks for the welcomes |

Only just manage to convinve the wife to let me get this one. Plus in my current fflat i dont really have space for another. However we are trying to move home (ecconomic climate not helping) so if we get a bigger place i "may" be able to get more! I'll post pics when i get him/her (i've decided already) next month. I am thinking of either getting a Traditional, Miami or Carolina type. I dont want to jump in the deep end with an expensive snake for my first one. |

There are breeders with hatclings everywhere just now. You should check out if there are any near you and also what they have. Breeders charge soooo much less than the stores do. xxx |

Is there much of a difference quality wise when buying from a store or breeder? Health wise etc??
EDIT: Also is there a reference somewhere of what all the types of Morphs look like? as a hacthling and fully grown?
EDIT 2: It's ok i found Ian's Morph Guide. Love the Anert Motley's
EDIT 3: Also could you recommend any breeders? I am based in North Yorkshire so a two hour radius is probs max i could do. Dont want to stress the snake too much. |

hello and welcome, am sure you will find the right corn for you. I prefer snakes from breeders rather than stores cause no matter how good the store the snakes tend to get more socialised and better breeding behind them when it's a reputable breeder....you do however get "those" breeders who want nothing more than the money and don't care about the snakes.
Not sure who is around you down there, I'm up in Scotland and only know the breeders up here. |

Hi Scott
I'm also a newbie, and loving this forum! I have always wanted a snake, but I recently got to hold a corn snake at Longleat. Since then I have done so much research into buying one it's ridiculous! I've read many care sheets and now I'm ready to buy one... the only problem is my other half. Still trying to figure out how to get it past him.
Anyway, looking forward to participating in this forum, thanks for having me! |
