A shoebox would go all soggy and mouldy with the damp moss in there - do you have an iceream tub or a tupperware box or something? My geckos have been using a tupperware box for years just fine |

Good luck with your girl. I had a female lay infertile eggs this year and it was a bit of an ordeal for us both but then she was below weight and I wasn't expecting them until they started to arrive so I didn't have any kit ready. A plastic tub with a hole cut into the lid and with damp but not wet sphagnum moss in is perfect. You really need to take your male out if she is getting ready to lay as he could stress her and cause her to hold onto her eggs which can be fatal. |

i can't stress this enough ^^
as a novice owner there's no way you can know your snakes and know how stress presents but if you insist on cohabitating well, you can't educate pork! |

Right I'm getting a tub and heat mat for tempary housing for the male asap (tomorrow afternoon probably). At the same time I'll go looking for a egg box for the female. Is breeding always this stressful lol?! |

Fantastic. Don't forget a thermostat and digi thermometer too. I have no real experience of breeding apart from my unexpected eggs this year. I can imagine that when it goes right it can be a very exciting and rewarding experience. I went through 2 weeks of stress with my girl then weeks of paranoia waiting to see if some of the eggs were somehow fertile. Having said that, I am looking forward to hopefully breeding my butters next year if my girl is big enough. |

Panic over, she's not pregnant! It was the muscle contractions or something from the stressful car journey. The vet checked her over today. Although all the advice given will still be useful when they actually breed. Sorry for the false alarm :S |

One question that it appears nobody has answered is the numbers..... 1.0.0 etc. 1. (=1 male) .0 (= 0 female) .0 (=0 unknown sex) In other words number of males, number of females, number of unknown sex. Hope you understand.....I'm not very good at explaining!
