Yeah it is best to leave her for about 5-7 days to settle in, get used to the sights, smells and sounds of her new home. A trick to do is put a clean sock in your pocket for a day, then put it in the tank so it gets used to your scent and wont see it as a threat. Dont feed her during this time either. After the 5-7days have passed try handling her carefully and she should be ok with you.
I get to handle mine properly tomorrow for the first time. Today is day 5 of owning he/she |

With regards to a new tank/Viv. How big are you intending to buy a new one? and has se outgrown the current one? A general rule is the length of the snake is equal to the legth + depth of the viv? |

Hi, new here myself. A lot to learn but reading the questions and answers is a sure way to get the correct info, people who keep corns are the ones to ask. One thing as already pointed out a 2 ft viv is rather small for an adult. |

Hi and welcome to the world of snake keeping and this forum. There isn't any major rush to move up a viv size just yet depending how deep the 2ft viv is. Simmy is right in that the general rule is length of snake should be no bigger than length plus depth of the viv. So if your viv is 2ft x 1ft and your snake is 3ft then yes it's time to move up. But if your viv is 2ft x 1.5ft then they can grow another 6 inches before they need to move up. |

Hi Welcome to the forum. The old sock trick is quite a good one, it gets them used to your smell in a safe place. Most cornsnakes are quite happy to coil up in a hide during the day and explore during the twilight/early daylight hours so as long as there's enough room for your snake in it's hide then upsizing the viv can wait until funds will allow. Not suggesting you're hard up or anything but it might help those who are and reading this thred! Enjoy snake ownership...... |
