When spot cleaning, do you need to take the snake out of the tank?

It depends what substrate you are using. I use aspen in all of my tanks so I leave the snake in while I spot clean. I just remove the waste and a bit of the surrounding aspen with some kitchen roll and pop it in a nappy sac. If you are using kitchen roll, newspaper or repti-carpet as a substrate then you may need to take snakie out to be able to take it all out.
