i was wondering where other people keep there snakes in the house. i have a busy house with a teenage son 2 parrots and 4 huskies and have put dave in the spare room with my pool table. we dont go in there much unless were playing pool and the dogs dont go in there at all. thing is it means we have to physically go in the room in the hope of catching dave having a wonder around his viv. im getting quite good at it and it seems 10 pm is a good time to catch him. also this means that when we get him out to handle him we shut the dogs out the house and bring him into the lounge with the tv and the birds. would he be better in the lounge with everything going on as i worry he may be stressed when we get him out as the room is noisier and smells different to his space in the house. i know they are private creatures just dont want him to get stressed Lisa x |

my two are in the sitting room, we have 2 cats, they very rarely bother them, during the day the sitting room doors are closed so the cats can't get in, because snakes can't actually hear - they feel the noise vibrations the noise shouldn't bother them, but the mix of smells might |

Viv is in the living room here too. I thought we might aswell get her used to the noise of 4 kids going around. She settled to it pretty well since she came from a home where nobody was ever in day or night.
Also got a cat which they dont bother with each other. Although my cat does become very interested when the viv is open. |

I have 3 vivs and 2 fauns in my living room. I don't think they are too bothered about the noise and my cat or any dogs I have. Swayze is in the bottom viv of the stac and is the one out most often despite every foster dog I have had having to go and see whats in there. I had Swayze and Tyler nose to nose through the glass the other day. I also have 7 vivs upstairs in my bedroom. Again, the snakes don't seem bothered by the dog or the cat or the usual doors banging. |

All of my lot are in the living room. The dog knows to keep his distance from the vivs. They will all be moving into my dining room next month though, just dont have enough room for a 6 foot wide viv stack in my living room. |

My reptiles are in the backroom where my ps3 is, so I guess only myself and my sister go in there constantly. They're good company. My beardie likes watching me play and runs to the glass when the tv is on. |

my major concern is the dogs getting to dave. huskies are hunters naturally and are forever catching furry things and eating them. i might start allowing the dogs in the spare room under supervision to see how the behave towards dave. if all goes well i may move him into the living room at a later date im certainly not brave enough to risk having dave out with my dogs around someone would get hurt even if it was only in the bundle to see what he is. I've got loads of animals (as can be seen in my sig below) and all, but the guineas, are in my bedroom with me. I have M.E and am usually in my bed 20+hrs a day, so I like having my animals around me to watch.
My dogs are actually quite nervous of Barbaby and tend to slink off of my bed when I get him out. To be honest I'm more worried about my hatchling Bailey somehow escaping and getting in to one of the hedgehog's cages. He'd make a tasty snack for one of them. |

Mine is in the living room. The cats don't bother about him and even when he is out, they are not that interested. |

2 vivs are in the lounge, one faun is in the dinning room as Savanna is still defensive so iv put her in a quieter room. I also have the chinchillas in the lounge but i will be having a juggle about soon so that reps are in a seperate room. Although it doesnt seem to affect their behaviour. Cats have the run of the house but dont seem to bother with the snakes. |

All in the bedrrom curretly. A kitty goes in there which Ozzy didn't like but now as been resolved as he is now at the top of the viv stack. I spend all my time in my room when I'm home so I get to see them when they are out :p but they can also keep me awake at night... One snake will end up in the landing, with quite a bit of people traffic though. I'm sure snakie will be fine though. |
