So, I'm away for the weekend, asked my family to watch the snakes. Today, they checked on Pinky, my hatchling from last july, and he's not in his viv. I've had my adult corn escape before so I know the general tricks for finding them back (check warm spots, put flour on the floor, make a bottle trap, use not-so-sticky tape) but I was wondering if there's anything special that can/should be done for finding hatchlings as they are so tiny.
Any advice? Since I'm away now I really can't do anything but call my family and let them know what to do... so really, any word of advice is appreciated.

make sure they check that he REALLY is DEFINITELY not in the tank! Under all the bedding, climbing on the roof or in any foliage etc. After that, just wish them luck with all the tricks to catch them! You must be going crazy seeing as how you're away :( |

Just got home... searching like crazy. My worst fear is that Pinky somehow managed to get in the viv with Jake and Saphira and they ate Pinky...... I really wouldn't know how to check that though... |

I double checked everything, he's definitely not in the tank anymore. No clue how he got out, either... |

Resorting to more desperate measures now. I let Saphira out to see where she'd go if she escaped, to see if she'd find any spots I missed while looking for Pinky. No luck so far (but Saphira loves crawling around like that, at least...) |

Update: not a sign of Pinky. Tried all the tricks, spent night upon night camping the house hoping I would at least hear something or see something, but alas, nothing. The only thing I've achieved with that is that I have dreams about finding pinky every other night now. And then the disappointment when you wake up... :( |

Had a little search for ten minutes and found this on another reptile forum that I came across months ago. It's a long shot but I belive it's worth a try.

I wish you the best of luck in finding little Pinky. |

Just thought I'd add that many people seem to find their snakes inside their couch / sofas or matresses. I have no idea how far an inquisitive little hatchling may get, so I'd suggest making a few traps behind things/ under places so there is more of a chance of finding the little houdini |

Thanks for the hints. I already tried the bottle trap idea, and other stuff like flour on the floor, aluminium foil and such... but no sign of him anywhere. Also checked all the couches and matresses, but nothing. Maybe a miracle will happen and I'll find him crawling around some day... but I have to admit my hopes are rather low. |
