Haha, trust me, this isn't a dodgey phallus enhancing email!

I just figured I'd share a couple of photos for people to see, as I often see threads where people are worried that their cornsnake is too small for it's age, and the answer is always 'They grow at different rates'.
So, I have two (rather washed out) photos to show you which really show the differences you can have in corn sizes.

First, is my Fire, Cat. She was hatched 22 June 2011. She currently weighs 35g.

And this is my Butter, Kryten. He hatched a couple days later. He weighs 7g.

Both are healthy, and feed well. But Kryten was a slow starter due to his little kink, and Cat hasn't missed a feed since she popped out.

So don't worry if you have a tiny corn, and don't assume they've been neglected (as I've seen suggested occasionally), chances are they were just a bit fussy, or just a slow grower :)

Is Kryton's kink the twist in the final quarter of his body and tail, bit like its lopped over on its side?

It is noticeable that although they are very different in size their body shapes are actually very similar (kink excluded) which is the best way to tell if a snake is thin, normal or fat and not by comparing snakes.

Anery Corn snake SPOT. Royal Python, DUKE. Hogg Island Boa, SANKE. Albino House Snake, HAL.
Harlequin Crested Gecko HARLEY
Albino Horned Frog WAKA
Chilean Rose Tarantula TRIXIE. Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird-eating Tarantula SAM. Orange Baboon Tarantula BORIS.
Giant Asian Forest Scorpion, SALLY.
Giant African Land Snails, SHELDON & MICHELLE.

No, his tiny kink is actually in his neck, but I think it's actually getting smaller already! :D He was just flopping about in that photo hahaha!

And yes, that's always the best way, I'm never worried so long as they're the right shape :)

My boy was born end of june and is over 2ft long and 55g have noticed on this forum massive variants in age, weight and length so as long as the shape is right (loaflike) the figures dont really matter.

What a helpful little post! I was worried about Jake's size as he's seems so thin for his length! If that makes sense, a lot of other people's corns are a lot thicker than Jake and always had me worried! However he shed three days ago and is now about 4 foot long and weight last night and came in at 420g. I don't know exactly how old he is as he was found in the street, but we've had him from a dot! Perhaps nearing two years?? I also don't have anyone to compare sizes with as this is my first snake and I don't know anyone personally who's ever had one!

Aww Kryton is so cute! This is a very reassuring post I have to say!

Corno hatched 31/8/11 and the other day was weighed at 16g (never had a problem with her feeding since we got her in November). I was worried about her until reading a couple of other threads. She had her 1st small fuzzy this week as 1 pinky left no bulge, and she managed 2 pinks for a few weeks no problems. It looked huge, but she managed it OK lol! Also she was out and about the day after the pinks, whereas she's settled down to digest the fuzzy!
