how do i pick up a corn snake for the first time ?

just be steady and scoop him up.

1.0 western hognose (hero)
1.0 phantom reverse pin dal brindle crested gecko (goyle)
0.2 red dal red harly (sprite) 99% full pin Harley crested gecko (TuLong)
0.0.3 miomantis paykullii
0.0.3 Bombina orientalis (oriental fire bellied toad)
0.3 fancy mice (snap, crackle and pop)
1.0 yorkshire terrier (jasper)
2.1 cats (echo, shadow and pokey)

As soon as you have him out he'll be calm. bring your hand in from the side so its not to daunting. If he bites don't pull away and just pick him up he'll learn that he isn't going to scare you away with a bite. Corns are skittish to begin with but calm down pretty fast with confident, regular handling.

start of 5 mins maybe 10, once a day then you'll see the improvement :). Good luck calming the little fellow and We will expect pics soon :)

Ive got a new corn,had him just over a week hes like a souped up ferarri but settles after a couple of minutes lol. Good luck

They soon learn that biting is not going to stop you picking them up and more importantly that when you pick them up you're not going to hurt them or eat them so don't feel quite so threatened by you. Before long its putting them down thats the hard bit.

I dont have mine yet but went to a pet store to see them. There was 2 in the tank hugged up so the guy said here ya go hold them. "OK" i said to my delight they where so damm cute and friendly. One of them made their way up my arm and then, the other thought "Eh i'm alone....oh there he/she is" and followed that one ! i cud have bought them there and then......but no cash for them.....DAMM U BANK.......DAMMMMMM U !!!!

corns are a solitary species and dont seek company until breeding season usualy (and there is a chance of cannibalism in younger snakes when they co habit)
and when seen paired in vivs together some people may think they are cuddling ect...
there not they are competing for the best spot, which can be very stressfull.

sorry sounds like an old man lecture! lol. but i hope it helps when you buy your 1st corn :)
