I just went to one of the two local reptile shops (the one I'm increasingly getting frustrated with) and as a test I bought a pinkie of the smallest proportions. For demonstration in this picture is Duke's rat, Sanke's rat, Spot's mouse and then Hal's pinkie.

My monthly food bill usually comes in at about £20 which although I could get it cheaper if I bought bulk its not too bad. So anyway:

55p

Last straw unfortunately for this particular shop, I was splitting my business between the 2 in the area but the other shop is hands down better in pretty much every way.

Anery Corn snake SPOT. Royal Python, DUKE. Hogg Island Boa, SANKE. Albino House Snake, HAL.
Harlequin Crested Gecko HARLEY
Albino Horned Frog WAKA
Chilean Rose Tarantula TRIXIE. Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird-eating Tarantula SAM. Orange Baboon Tarantula BORIS.
Giant Asian Forest Scorpion, SALLY.
Giant African Land Snails, SHELDON & MICHELLE.
Budwing Mantis, MAIA
Dubia Roach Colony. Silkworm Colony. Mealworm Colony. Waxworm Colony. Fruit Beetle Colony.

I used to get my pinks locally in tubs of 15 that cost 5-25, so 35p each- only marginally better than P@H where they cost (I think) 40p each? (correct me if I'm wrong

now I get then for 16p each- from the lovely chap that bred the shoelace that eats them.

55p for a pink is creeping up into the realms of waste-water removal

and you thought there was no such thing as a stupid question....

1.2.0 corns: captain haddock, sharon the tiddler and Darling Debbie. plus 0.2.0 cali kings: spot and Numpty... not forgetting the delightful Miss Lovely-Gonzalez-La-Poop apricot pueblan milk snake, and we all miss the Lodger who thought he was a cobra....

Actually having read a horrific thread somewhere else where the eyes were missing and the skull was exposed, I'd rather pay extra for mice if I know they were bred in the UK than cheap ones from Europe.

thats right or you can get 4 for £1.40, i get mine from p@h but thats cause i heard horror stories about the cheaper pet shop refreezing their pinkies! plus i don't like their standards so refuse to fund them!

I only pay 45p a pinkie, and even that is quite high compared to what you can get them for.
55p is ridiculous.

My local is lovely and cheap, 29p for a pink and a £1 for a jumbo, and everything else inbetween is well priced! I don't buy anything bigger, so I can't comment on that :>

My pet shop is expensive for mice, but even if i ran out i wouldnt buy their mice, look like they put mice in plastic bag and wacked with a mallet, bag/mice all messy and covered in blood, asked if they had fuzzys ages ago, brought out pinkys and said i was wrong, worse thing was she was so haughty the way she spoke to me, just gave the dozy cow a disgusted look and walked out
