So this afternoon I had the terrifying experience of arriving home to find my street blocked off by police and full of firetrucks. There had been a gas leak and I was told by the police to find somewhere to stay for a few hours and it should be under control and safe to go back in my house soon enough. except my snake Boots was still in the house. Boots is still quite small and I'm was pretty certain that exposure to even a small amount of gas would kill her fairly quickly so I was desperate to get to my house. It took some convincing but finally the firemen decided that so long as I was quick it would be safe to rescue my pet. They assumed it was a dog, the fireman who followed me to my house and watched me scoop the very much still alive and very cranky at being bothered Boots into her feeding tub was pretty confused, he had never heard of keeping a snake as a pet before which I thought was pretty odd. So I explained how friendly and low maintenance corns are as I was escored back to a safe distance, the fireman actually seemed pretty genuinely interested. So I ended up hiding Boots in my backpack and waiting at the library a few hours till they opened my street again and boots is safe and sound in her viv, unfortunately she ate yesterday so I won't be shocked if she has a regurge incidednt after all the stress of transport but I'd rather that than her suffocate
so thats my adventure which seemed very exciting at the time even if it dosen't here lol |

Well done on convincing them to let you get your pet out. I'd love to see their faces had they met a cranky Ginn (kingsnake, who feasted on my OH's hands last night), don't think they'd have been nearly as understanding!
Glad you're all safe and ok :) |

Honest, it was an unintentional joke ... but I can make worse than that if you want. |
