right it's daft question time from me again!

8 has shed and it wasn't the best, have removed some retained shed. a few weeks before he shed i noticed what look like scale damage on the top of his head, any way he has since shed and where that damage was now looks white and on the actual shed there is a redish mark. so can they pull off the underlying scale when they shed? haven't managed to get pics as my camera is rubbish! thanks in advance!

Mine has just shed and her her vent is the shed broke there so i had to get all the she'd off her tail, horrible experience. I'm not a great expert on this topic but maybe he's just lifted a scale whilst slitting under something tight? Thanks

I've heard that they'll eventually shed it off? Perhaps she caught it somewhere? I'm sure someone with better knowledge will be able to help you more :)

I had the same issue when i got my hypo lavender one whole scale was damaged and has blood around the area but underneath the skin on top of the scale (if you see what i mean), its nothing to worry about. The scales are there to protect the skin, so the scale that is now off has done its job. I found with my snake that he just shed a couple of extra times than normal to repair the scale that was damaged, just keep an eye for infection although this is not common if the tank is kept clean. If she has problems shedding put a moss box in the tank or pop her in a luke warm water bath enough to not fully submerge her and that will help soften the skin for her to shed or get rid of any excess skin.

Hope this helps

he's usualy sheds well, this is first time it's been 'bitty', he seems fine in himself it just looks unsightly, i was hoping it would only take one shed to get rid of it! it looks better than it did though so i guess thats something

My male took a few sheds to look right and my friend snake has issues shedding for a few months but he soon got back to normal too. Im sure he will be fine after a few sheds. However if there is old skin still on him i would defiantly bath him to get rid of the old skin, specially when it comes to the tail as they can lose the tail if not shed properly.

He looks fine to me maybe put a moss box in his tank to help, he will go in there if needed
