 found hat i believe is a cornsnake in my house

no clue where it came from but it looks exactly like the one my mother had years back BUT here is the concern i have about its health it looks like one of my cats got to it before i found it and it has a few small holes in its side that are not bleeding, its not moving around much but he is moving a little is there anything i can do to help it im too poor to afford a vet bills are there any household items maybe neosporin or something similar that wont harm him/her that may help keep him alive or anyone have any ideas as to what i should do? i can post pics of its injuries later

its in a box for a toaster oven not the toaster oven itself just the box i put some water and a log type thing i had for my bearded dragon but hes just chilling that time i looked should i leave him/her be to either die in peace or heal in peace whatever happens first hopefully he lives cause ive actually been wanting a snake since i gave my beardy away

the box is pretty good sized and he wont be able to get out and my cats cant get into the room

Hi there.

Firstly, if you can't afford vets fees yourself then maybe see if you can find someone who can, or see if your vet will arrange a payment plan to help with the cost.

In the meantime, he needs to be kept quiet, in a dark, secure container. Offer water with Powerade in it, or a product called Reptoboost if you can find it. Tamodine is good for wounds, as is Manuka honey.

Don't offer food, and try to disturb it as little as possible.

If you are unable to afford or provide appropriate care for the snake, why not contact the ASPCA or any other animal rescue organizations in your State area and see if they can help. A local pet shop might be able to help if you explain the circumstances.

From your description it sounds like the snake needs specialist attention.

thanks a lot sexybear and auld baldy :P im gonna give the snake to my mother shes really good with animals and was actually a vet tech for a while and if its out of her ability to help im 100% sure she will take him/her to some sort of animal rescue place i actually posted this because it was far to late to call my mother

Cats have a certain bacteria in their saliva which gets into bites, it is 100% fatal with birds unless treated no idea about reptiles though.

I hope he pulls through though!
