I'm a college student out for the summer. I have a 4 year old female corn snake named Queen Noodle. She's only 2 and 1/2 feet, as she was kept in a shoe box under some her previous owner's bed and starved, which stunted her growth. I have a friend who works at a reptile rescue, and he gave me to her, because everyone who came into the rescue didn't want her because of her small size. (Am I the only person who DOESN'T want to breed their snake?) I've never had a snake before (I have African Dwarf Frogs), but we've hit it off just fantastically. She is the best snake in the entire world. I've noticed her behavior is radically different from my housemates' corn snake, so I thought I'd just write it out. She HATES being in any sort of enclosed space (likely because she was kept in a shoe box for years), so she's out and on me for as long as I'm awake (usually 12-19 hours, depending on the day). She has a tendency to panic and thrash around if I try to put her in the tank any time before morning (we're both nocturnal). She will curl around my waist under my shirt, or on top of my head, and I just go around the house and do my daily routine with her cuddling on me. She's very curious, and likes to check out any food item I eat or craft I'm working on. I give her daily baths with a soft cloth at the sink, so I really have no problem with her slithering through my guacamole. I just lick it off her (we have quite the relationship). Despite having been treated horribly her first few years of life by her previous owner, and despite the fact she startles easily, she does not bite or lunge. She just gives a little jump, then settles down. Has anyone else ever had such a silly snake?

Our relationship can be summed up by this picture a housemate took of us a few hours ago (we are still in this position as I type this):

I'm aware the tank is small, it's the one I got her in at the rescue. She's only in there about 6 hours a day to sleep, so I haven't invested in a larger tank yet.

At the moment that picture was taken, I had paper towels in there to mop up the extra water from washing out the tank. I normally use newspaper as a substrate. The housemates have always used newspaper and recommended it.

kool! yeah nothing wrong with using newspaper as its cheap, only thing is corns like burrowing in aspen, which isnt too expensive...also some inks in newspaper when wet can be harmful to corns.
im not trying to be picky, just trying to help :)
