Ok, so I have a month old corny who I've been told has had 3 feeds (1 every week ) he's around 10 inches long, not sure of weight till I get scales. Was planning on feeding 1 pinkie every 5 days for the moment, see how he goes. Is this too much at his young age? Just there are so many different recommendations,I'm a bit puzzled!
Would 5 days be ok, or should I just stick to 7?
When I've had him a few months I'll stop being so paranoid, haha. |

we all started out as neurotic first-time mums, don't worry about it- ask any and every question that crops up- there'll usuallybe a fairly quick reposnse.. as for the feeding, a pinky every 5 days is perfect for a wee baby. good luck, enjoy first feed, and congratulations on the fambly addition!!
ps- dont forget to post pics in the photo section!! |
and you thought there was no such thing as a stupid question....

Yep feed one pinkie every 5 days until there's no bump left after feeding then you can start to increase number an time. |

Fab thanks. 1 more quick question....I only got him home on Saturday ,will it be ok to take him out to feed? Don't wanna stress him or anything. When I did handle him to get him into his faun when we got home,he was pretty chilled ,no tail rattling etc. |

this might be different for different people but when my mum and i got our snakes, we left them alone for 7 days before handling them and feeding them but people with different experiences might advise differently :) hope that wasnt too vague :/ |

I'd imagine the priority would probably be to allow him to settle down. Not much point in trying to keep up with the feeding schedule if he then refuses or regurges because he's stressed, so maybe wait a couple more days? Or I guess if you see him out and about he might be settled and/or hungry. |

Yeah you're right. I think I'll leave it a couple days then start every 5 days after that. :-) |

7 days to settle in is the normal way of doing things. After that try offering a pinkie once every 5 days. |

okay well I'm not going to help AT ALL my first corn I left for 7 days, fed on the 8th all good, but my latest one I fed the day I got her because she was due a feed, but I feed without removing them from their home/s so I just popped a pink in with her and it was whipped away pretty smartish
THEN I left her for 7 days and fed her on the 8th, left her for 2 days and then started handling.
But it's up to you, if she's due a feed I would probably pop a pink in with her and see if it's gone - if it's still there in an hour or so I would take it out and then leave her for 7 days.
Good luck - is she in your siggy? If so she's gorgeous |
