I decided to feed both Ophion and Bats tonight and took them downstairs to have a handle beforehand. My almost 3 year old son is doing a fanTAStic job of handling Ophion. It really helps that she's so placed and calm; she'll sit around his neck and then allow him to support her head with each hand. He can also hold her in his hands.
So anyway, I was holding Bats cos he is an absolute NUTTER. He's bigger, stronger and faster and doesn't seem used to being handled as much.
So I defrosted two smalls and a pinky (cos Bats needs bigger than smalls) and thought I'd offer to him whilst I was holding him. Now, you have to understand that the way Ophion feeds is you put the mouse in with her, she slowly slithers across it, then suddenly realises there's a mouse there and latches onto it... eventually.
I dangled this pinky in front of Bats via tweezers, and he struck for it, and snatched it so hard he ripped the foot and tail off where I was holding it! He ate it whilst hanging off my arm; swallowed it in 3 seconds. I dried his mouse off and got that with the tweezers and he struck for that! He's so fast and vicious lol! He thrashed around with it, and it's bloomin' guts had a hole in from the tweezers so he was leaving splodges of blood all over my trousers, and I tried to wrestle him into the tub so he could eat in peace cos he seemed to be having a hard time holding onto it in mid air.
This has totally taken me by surprise! I was told he was a strike feeder, but I never expected it to be so violent! I will have to get it on video and show you. It's just shocking! But in a good way.
Does anyone else have a vicious striker? |

| My lil snow strikes so hard he swallows half the pinkie just in the strike itself lol,Eve will roll around with the mouse like shes a wwe superstar or something Eddies just started really going for it with striking and constricting and my Kingsnake well seeing is believing lmao and my lil female royal strikes so hard 9 times outta ten i usually still hyave the tail in the tongs lmao |

| Both Plissken and Sirae have ruptured mice with ferocious strikes and constricts. Good to watch in a morbid way, but not fun to clear up... |
