Details:

3year old, 4ft 11, shed yesterday- very complete and successful shed.
Viv: 30-31degrees (I set it higher as my room is cold so only about 19deg cool side. 2 Hides, and no sources of loud music etc. Generally non aggressive, easy to handle snake. Usually pretty active. This is week 5 without feeding now. I got her out for some exercise just before trying to feed her and despite not eating for this that length of time, she crapped all over my bed! (Bless her!)

Anyway, I've tried feeding her in the viv, in which she just sniffs it then slithers off, or in a plastic tub, in which she just turns massively aggressive and strikes constantly, but only to bite, not to feed. (looks like she finds the tub a bit stressful).

I normally thaw the food in warm water and then blow dry it for about 20 secs just to warm it a little. I use feeding tongs but after no success, tried leaving it in there but to no availe. Any other suggestions on what to do? I'm running out of Rats!

i'd bring your temps down a bit as 30 is the absoute max you want them at 28 is the better temp, as long as your warm end is at the right temp you dont need to worry about the cold side. have you tried braining?

Have you tried her with mice? I know some pythons can be a bugger to take rats as they don't like the smell of them but I am not sure if the same would apply to a corn

I don't know really. I've only had her for 5 weeks. The first week I left her be, the second I tried, then she went into blue. The shop supplied her with 4 Weener rats. They said it was because they didn't have any large mice. Will give it a go next. Other than the smell, are Weener rats and big mice about the same?

I would think they are about the same size as a small weaner rat but not 100%. My corns are to small for large mice so I have not bought any yet to compare and nutritionally wise I think they are about the same with just a bit more fat to the rats.

Ok il try that to. The only reason she's on rats is because the shop supplied me with them when I bought her. I'm hoping shell just eat soon rather than starve completely :s

Sometimes snakes will refuse rats if they are normally fed mice, and vice versa. Get hold of some mice and try those.

Thanks, will try and get some tomorrow. It did cross my mind and seeing as she was rattling her tail at it and all sorts.

Heres a pic of my attempt just now. You can see what I mean, just don't want to stress her. Shes a really friendly snake but just goes in defence mode whenever a rats near.

Giving her a large mouse. She was gentle as anything as well. Will try a second one in a bit as its been 5 weeks and she's quite a big girl. Thanks for the advice

If you have fed her once already today I would wait at least 1 week before feeding again. I would have thought that she will be curled up by now starting to digest the mouse she just ate. If you feel she needs 2 mice then feed them straight after each other on the next feed. Wait until the first is about half way down and she has started moving around and then feed the second.

Cheers, she had a about 2hrs in between them both. Left the second one on some kitchen towel in her viv and she snuck out and took it. Out of interest, she's 4ft 11 and 3 years old. Is it ok to feed her 2 big mice once every 2 weeks or stick to 1? They look pretty small compared to her
