Hello! I'm really bad at different substrate textures and materials so I'm sorry if im not very accurate :)
My 2-3 month old Corn snake has been on quite large darkish chunks of substrate and I have decided to change it simply because I prefer the looks of a lighter and more finer substrate and also because I feel my little snakey will feel more comfortable on the finer more smaller version. I bought the new one from a specialised reptile shop but I'm just double checking because they kind of have a bad reputation and don't always know what they are talking about.
Are there any potential risks that I am taking by using a lot finer/smaller substrate? :)
Here's a photo of my old substrate

And a photo of my new substrate

Does it tell you what wood it is? Pine is a no, no. If you're looking for a soft substrate that he can snuggle and borrow in then aspen is good. |

*I'm in Holland* The bag says it's not pine. Has this interesting note that the 'humidity' is 8 - 10% It's also tree friendly because no tree's died to make this o - o it also has a less chance that moulds will develop because it's 'special'... Instructions are so annoying to translate :< I was mostly worried about it being to small :3 |

looks fine, as long as you either put kitchen towel down to feed or feed in a seperate tub :) |

I'd say the new one actually looks better than the old one, less splintery :D |

I think the new one looks good. It looks a lot like my aspen chip bedding. As long as it isn't pine and you feed in a separate tub I would say it would be a good change. |
