Welcome to the forum

Have you got everything set up ready for your new snake? How old is it?

The best advice I can give is to read all the sticky threads on the forum and research as much about care as you can before he/she arrives. We'll all answer any questions you have

Hi and welcome.
Have a look at the caresheet on the forum homepage, it's an excellent source of information.
Also look through the stickies for loads of great advice.
Google cornsnake care too and read as much as possible.
Then if you have any questions ask us on here and we'll help.
Happy researching......

He/she is about 6 months old the lady from the shop said, I haven't got the viv set up yet as waiting on some shelving to be delivered and set up first.

I'm grasping from things ive read that I should feed outside the viv, that they don't poo a lot when they are small, they et around once every 6 days or so... And to leave alone for a week so it can settle new home?

Wondering how often they shed and also, what sort of ages do they move on to bigger food, I know it's something to do with the size of mouse in comparison to largest part of snake but as an estimate,.. How many months/years roughly when they move up each time?

Thanks guys

Just in case you haven't read about it yet, I would suggest you get a digital thermometer and a thermostat to control the temperature of your heat mat (or heat lamp with guard) so that your snake is safe . Also, it is best to set everything up and run the thermostat, heatmat and thermometer for a few days before your snake comes home so that you can get the temperature perfect and stable before they arrive.

Corn snakes vary a lot in how fast they grow and they shed more when they are growing fast. Normally a young corn snake sheds every 4-8weeks because they're growing fast, an adult sheds maybe 4 times a year because they don't grow as quickly.

It really depends on how fast your snake grows and how large he/she is already as to what age she will need to move up to bigger food. I have Apollo who was just 17g and still on double pinkies at a year old but I also have a hatchling, Aphrodite who was on double pinkies at 3 months old and is nearly ready for fluffs now (she's still just 4 months old and is already 25g, so much bigger than Apollo was at a year old!). The best rule to go by is to feed them something no bigger than 1.5 times the width of their widest part

You also need to leave your snake alone for 48 hours after feeding to allow the food to digest.

Hello and Welcome! Everyone seems to have covered most bases, so I'll just say that a Creamsicle Corn is a Corn x Emoryi Rat Snake, and as such,a Hybrid. Doesn't impact on the animal in anyway, just means that any offspring, should you maybe breed in the future, would be have to be labelled as such :)

Best of luck to you and your new Snakies, you'll soon find more may somehow find their way in lol!
