Hi all.
My 7 year old male corn has always been a good feeder (He is a big lad - 6 feet and 1200g but def not a fatty!!) till recently but has now refused feeds for 8 weeks so thought would try and tempt him back into feeding with a chick. He took the chick no probs (not a strike feeder BTW) so offered him a large mouse too as he was in the mood to eat and took that fine too.Great,I thought,he's back on his food, but sometime during the same night,he regurged them both :(
Temps are fine and he is,as he has been during his fast, very active and drinking fine.
Just wondered if any cause to worry as he regurged his first meal in 8 weeks and has never refused feeds before or ever regurged!
Any help very much appreciated.
Tony

It's because you fed him a chick and a mouse I assume. To big if a meal. A chick is fine for an adult corn even of that size. And if they had gone off their food for a length of time you should always feed a size down from their normal as it can send their stomach in shock and the regurge. Wait ten days not handling and offer medium it a small mouse, eaig the normal j yet all but with a smaller meal then you can go back up to a large mouse. Even at 6ft 1200g sounds like a lot. Have you got an pics. It's always interesting to see the biggens ;)

Yeah, as above, it's best to feed a smaller item after a fast rather than larger. Good luck, I hope he takes a smaller meal for you in 10 days time

He is a stunning looking snake

He's stunning.
I suspect it was probably too much for him to eat.
Leave him for at least 10 days for his gut to get back to normal, with all the enzymes etc needed to digest properly. Then offer him a smaller meal than normal. If he keeps it down offer him another small meal after 5 days. Then gradually increase size and days between feeds until he's back to his normal regime.

Hmm... Kind of don't understand this... I was told my female was fat at 900 Grams and she's only 6" smaller than him. He does look nice and healthy but I was told that my 5'6" female was fat at 900 Grams. She's now down to around about 750 Grams and starting to look thin.

Each snake holds weight different. That's why I asked for photos. This snake is at the max end of the right size. The photos of your snake when you first joined clearly showed your snakes were over weight. It doesn't always go on weight it how they carry it.

That's the thing, they didn't look any different to the one above except that my female seems to use muscle differently so always has a flattened circle but now her back is starting to look triangular but her belly is still flattened circle. Just like it always has been. I still can't get home though, snows still bad.

This snake still has majority flat sides. Yours pics showed perfectly round snakes. They should have some shape to them. I can't imagine yours are now skinny from the short time they have been on a diet. Get some pics uploaded when your home and I'm sure someone will tell you x

Just had a text from my mum... They won't be skinny when I get home. She's fed them a chick each tonight and small rat weiners last week They'll have put weight on again. My male isn't perfectly round and never has been... He's always had flat sides, he's all muscle. My female seems to be no muscle since her sides are always flat to the ground.

Just a thought - are they going to breed ( male and female living together )? I'm only asking, because if she is about to become pregnant ( or already pregnant ), she most definitely shouldn't be on a diet. If they don't breed , then diet her again,if you need to, but I'd be a bit careful this time of the year.

What a beautiful big snake I agree with what some other people have said. I would have thought that this meal was too big for him to manage after a fast like that and that is possibly why he regurged. Don't feed him for ten days then offer something smaller than normal

They bred a good amount of times last year but nothing came out of it. Not even slug eggs and she never changed.
