I've had a fab day out today to Chester Zoo. I did lots of playing with my new camera which I'm still getting used to.
Thought I'd share my reptile shots with you guys
Unfortunately I can't remember what most of them are...

Retic

Sand Lizards, I'd never seen these before so I was so thrilled to catch a picture (even if it isn't great because of wire etc)

He was a very photogenic chap

Garter snakes

Tomato frog I think

Chameleon

Gaboon Pit Viper

And finally a mystery animal...

Any guesses?

I can't remember what type of frog it was but I have another picture from sideways on too. I just thought it looked so interesting from underneath.

Fab pics! I love the reptile bit at Chester Zoo... especially on winter visits haha
Is the last one a sleepy red eyed tree frog? They are ace Playing guessing now - the crinkly fella above the chams is a tuatara, the photogenic chap is a caiman lizard. Snakey under the gaboon is maybe a white lipped python and the lizard in the second pics looks like a mountain horned dragon. First one is a red tailed rat snake... possibly

Oooh very good, figs Red tailed rat was it! I remember trying to find the tail The white lipped python (?) had a bad time shedding, there were bits all over the place, poor thing.
It was quite a sunny warm day today but I still insisted on staying in the very hot reptile bits haha. Love 'em! |

Brilliant, that takes me back! Could it be Whites tree frog? The picture on the glass is really good....
That retic was sat in exactly the same place, when I was there :-), and those San Francisco garters have stunning colours, don't they? |

Thank you Yeah, we missed seeing a fair few animals because they were either hiding or we just ran out of time but I wanted to get round as many of the reptiles as we could Just missed the Komodo I think as he was being health checked so was off display |

*sigh* Chester zoo is FAR too far away for us to visit, and I would so love to see a Gaboon viper! Did you know they have the longest fangs (comparative to body size obviously, otherwise a retic would definitely win lol :P ) of any snake? They only have a burmese, a water dragon and a couple of Komodo's at the zoo near us - and the other one is worse, they have a corn, colombian rainbow and a royal lol! Those garters are so pretty, and I love the frog pics! |

1. Red Tailed Racer in shed 2. Tuatara - Possibly. Was torn between some locality of Water Dragon and Young Tuatara... After looking a third time. I'm not sure. Acanthosaura Spp or Calotes Spp possibly but not 100% on all those lol. 3. Retic(as you know) 4. Sand Lizards(as you know) 5. Caiman Lizard 6. California Red Sided Garter Snake - I think. Could be San Francisco. 7. They look like False Tomato Frogs but I know there's a third subspecies that always get's mistaken for Tomato Frog Spoken to a friend who's seen them too and they are True Tomato Frogs 8. Looks like an older, more mature Tuatara 9. Female Yemen Chameleon 10. Gaboon Pit Viper 11. Boelens Python 12. Whites Tree Frog
