With Midas starting to grow a bit more rapidly in the last 6 weeks, he is now 22g and about 22-24" long, his monkfield starter Vivarium 18x11x6 is looking like its almost outlived its use for him.

I've been looking at a new Viv below and was wondering your thoughts on it.

http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/reptile-supplies/vivariums-416/vivariums-572/vivexotic-viva-terrestrial-vivarium-small-walnut-23--332884.html

There are cheaper ones on the site but this one has the vents at the front which would be perfect as it will be up against a wall.

My initial thinking was the 2ft one would be perfect and once he outgrows this to then go up to a 4ft Viv, Midas should then have plenty room as an adult as he's always been slender but long.

Its also part of a longer plan when I add to my collection next summer, be it another Corn, Royal Python, Rainbow boa or Gecko. Undecided what to get as yet but leaning towards a Gecko and Boa atm as I like variety I'll have starter kits for test setups and plenty time for researching. The boa would need a plastic Viv at some point as the wooden one wouldn't last long under the humidity, anyone know of some good links for plastic ones? I have been looking at the ones on the link below.

I wouldn't bother with the small viv and go straight up to the medium as you are only gaining a small amount of space and the medium should be adequate for his lifetime unless he grows very long.

Why waste money on a 2ft viv when theres 2ft rubs? Might as well save money for a 3 or 4 ft viv and go nuts.

A very special super, duper thanks for K :3

If you are after a plastic viv then I am probably going to look into using Non-stop reptiles in the future for my Colombian rainbow boa. They are custom made to whatever requirements you need, cheaper than other plastic vivs and have had very favourable comments *whispers* over on RFUK where you will be able to find out about them.

As to the 2ft viv it depends on your circumstances... if, for example, you would be thinking of getting a male hognose or house snake in the future, then this would be a perfect home for them as an adult, so could be used again later :P ... if however it is purely as a stop gap for your corn, then I would forget it and go straight to a larger one :P

Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking about the 2ft Viv at first as the 4ft will be a bit big atm without closing some off and I'm terrible at DIY .

Thanks for the ebay link but I noticed it has a vent and unfortunately it white is a no no as all my furniture is dark the walnut would fit in perfectly, the Viv would also be pushed up against a wall so I thought the newer one would be a bit better as its designed with the ventilation at the front. Midas's safety and happiness in my number one concern on anything I buy

He could turn out very long going by how he is just now, when I got him 3 months ago he was about 14" and 10g now hes 22" or so and 21g and only 8 - 9 months old so planning for his future and I think the 4ft Viv will be best for the future going on the growing pattern.

The Hoggie idea has got me interested, they are adorable little snakes I'll have to add it to my list initially I thought of a leopard gecko to utilise the 2ft but was unsure if it was big enough I keep reading a 3ft viv is suitable for a couple of them but females only etc.

Ill also check out those plastic Viv's thank for pointing me in the right direction even if you mentioned the dark side lol
