Well, Sebastian has attempted to eat my arm this morning... I should have known...
He was roaming and looked like he was hunting. I opened the glass, he came out onto my arm after a while, but kept stopping, sniffing my arm, and tilting his head in the way they do, before they take their first bite of the mouse...
I thought - surely not? Then he slowly opened his mouth and bang! Bit me, held on, and started constricting my arm. He even repositioned himself, to get a better grip -several times. He let go after a while, but every time I moved even slightly, he threw more coils on my arm, and it was quite a job getting him off...
This is what I ended up with:

Even though it's heart shaped, I don't call THAT a love bite!
Later, I realized I had been holding our ancient cat in my arms this morning, before handling Seb. I did wash my hands, but not my whole arms.. it was the smell of the cat that provoked the feeding strike! Better keep old Ginty away from the little Seb!

oooo that was close he could have had your whole arm there, right up to your shoulder! he's def one to watch, have you thought about getting some hooks to handle him in the future?
I've heard putting a tiny dab of vicks on your bitten appendage just in front of their face makes them let go quick sharp!

Ha, love to eat, more likely :-)

Just realized - I really will have to be careful with him and the cat, after how he reacted to the cat smell today.... Only yesterday, my husband was sat down, holding Seb, and the cat was rubbing on his legs - completely ignoring the little snake. But Seb was staring at the cat, very intently...
I didn't think much about it, but after today - I don't think the cat would take it lightly, if Seb bit him! Ginty might be old, but he's still very efficient at killing things, he had a pigeon 2 days ago, and would probably make a short process of little Sebastian!

Still, the cat, or my arm, seems a bit ambitious, considering he normally eats medium mice, and they leave a huge bump! :-)

Lee, I know, he certainly tried to swallow my arm - sideways! :-0 Never thought his tiny mouth could open that wide. I must admit, his futile attempts were quite funny to watch, tough, and it didn't actually hurt. :-)

SBB and Lupi lou, don't worry, no doubt it won't be long and he'll do it again... Had to get him out tonight, as decided to feed him a day early... Ha, that was quite a rodeo, and when he finished the mouse, he kept striking at anything that moved. So I picked up his feeding RUB, from underneath, and he bit the side of it, where my fingers showed through. Then refused to leave the RUB, had to waggle my fingers in his viv, to entice him out - which worked well as he followed them hopefully in. Managed to get my hand out of the viv, before he could latch on :-)

He's all mellow now again, sitting in his hot hide, and making the "butter wouldn't melt " faces.

Lol I had a very similar although less impressive experience the other day - guess which of my snakes tried to eat me? Yup, it was Hermes!!!! I'd got some mice out for a few that needed feeding and then washed my hands, but I must have missed a spot at the base of my thumb. I got him out and he was very alert and skittish, sat down to give him a cuddle before I fed him, and exactly as you descibed above, did that sort of head tilt whilst pushing nose against my hand, then opened his mouth and bit! Hubby and I were in stitches! He soon realised I was a bit too much for him, what with him being about the girth of my little finger, and let go though. I would have got a pic of the miniscule dots left behind, but I don't think there's a camera in the world powerful enough, I could barely see them myself - but he did manage to break the skin - incredible really!

Hermes is also the only snake to have ever bitten hubby - he's now joking about my deadly killer house snake compared with his lovely friendly carpet python :P

Lol, SB, I paused reading your post and actually tried to guess, which snake it had been. I knew it wouldn't have been the carpet, but my guess was actually the little hoggie! Never would I've guessed, that tiny Hermes could be that ambitious! :-)

My sincere apologies to Hoggy :-)
