I'm going to be collecting this cute little CB13 anery on Sunday and I'm really excited about getting her. Not only cos she has the coolest pattern, but because it's not completely clear what's causing it.
Baby pic

More recent

It looks like a crazy motley pattern, but she apparently has full belly checkers. Wide stripe has been mentioned as a possibility which doesn't seem to be understood much. Don't know if it's a gene or if it's connected to anery morphs particularly. Looking at pics of her parents seems to suggest it could be present though.
Mum

Dad

For now I'm referring to her as an anery aztec het amel, but it will be interesting how she changes. She had some pretty zany clutchmates too!

I can't help but feel there may be a jungle corn further back? Were the parents related? Very cool pattern :) |

I must say, I agree with Smart bunny, the parents look very much like hybrids to me. I've nothing against hybrids, as long as they are labeled as such, and not sold as corn snakes. I've seen some really stunning hybrids - and the father of your hatchie is especially gorgeous, but if you decided to breed your hatchling later, the babies shouldn't be sold as pure corn snakes... |

Shows how little I know about corns because I look at an 'orange/red' mum and a 'yellow/orange' dad and wonder how they can create such a stunning black and silver/grey baby .
She's beautiful Jennifer and I can't wait to see how she develops.

Thanks guys, very happy that she's had a double pinky meal now and is settling in well.
Mum and dad are both corn and were bred by the owner as well. He explained that after a few breeding years of not really selling anymore, he decided to focus on a couple of babies with aberrant patterns. 3 generations later he's producing Aztec pattern and also wide stripe. Mum is a Carolina and dad is a high yellow Amel. He's been lucky enough to talk to Kathy Love about what he was producing (cos at the time he had no idea).
All his crazy pattern babies have belly checkers so no motley or stripe is involved.
As for breeding in the future, I'm not sure yet. I wanted her cos she was so cool looking. She's 100% het for amel (snows in the clutch). What I'll need to decide is whether to breed her to my visual stripe, my genetic motley/stripe, or my patternless male. |
