So! Surprisingly, Lilith was already up to breeding weight, size and strength this year. She showed all the signs of looking for a male, so I figured I would give it a shot.

It seems that both Lilith and Nash were very much up for it, because within 2 minutes of putting them together, they had locked:

Since then, Lilith has changed her behavior - she roams around a lot, and the rest of the time she digs herself in (which she hasn't done since she was a hatchling). I also found her curled up in one of her logs at some point:

Showing some skin:

Just to be on the safe side, I already gave her a laying box. I think she's approved of it:

I also give her regular exercise, so that she stays strong and fit in case she does lay eggs. It also gives me a good opportunity to monitor her progress. The lower end of her body -does- seem rather fat...

Now, one might say that all of this points to being gravid... except! The first lock was more than a month ago now, and Lilith is still eating like a champ. She hasn't shed yet, nor is showing any signs of going into shed. I also can't feel or see any individual eggs. All of this has me thoroughly confused. I guess only time will tell if she's gravid or not... but I'm a very impatient cookie :P Fingers crossed she is indeed gravid, because I absolutely love hatchies and there are some interesting possibilities too... :D

This would be the cross genetically speaking:

They're all different. Kali ate right up until her prelay shed last year. The average is 45 days from lock to lay but it can be longer or shorter.

Lilith does look quite chunky around the back end but I guess time will tell Fingers crossed for you, what an exciting potential clutch!

Soooooooooooo... Lilith refused her first feed with me today. In the nearly 2 years I've had her, that's never happened. I think I can also feel eggs... :D No sign of shed yet, but I'm already quite excited!

Lilith has gone into blue... :D Since I already had quite some interest in her tessera offspring and I don't have the time to inform everyone separately, I've decided to make my own Facebook group :) If anyone feels like joining, here it is (work in progress): https://www.facebook.com/groups/761796667225404/

Lilith shed and laid 2 slugs

I've also set up my webcam so we can watch Lilith lay her eggs live. If anyone is interested in watching, it can be found here:

I've been watching this from when you first posted Isoldael. I'm so glad she's finally started laying, although I'm sorry the first 2 were slugs, I hope she manages to lay the rest ok.

Xxx
