Aztec wanted photos done now lol...
So...
Exploring on bed

Now contained lol

Beautiful head shot - and thanks to my Mum for helping me with the next few shots

Next couple are belly/ventral shots - again thanks Mum lol

Hope you enjoy and if anyone can confirm both mine and P@H thoughts on Aztec actually being an Okeetee then I really would be grateful...as I said, I have checked on Ian's Vivarium and I am fairly certain he is...but confirmation would be greatly received

Beautiful snake. Okeetees are selectively bred corn snakes. They are selectively bred to have wide black borders around their markings so it can be a little subjective when asking whether or not a snake is an okeetee. I have heard somewhere that the black border should be two scales wide around every marking to be an okeetee but I guess that depends on who is judging whether or not it is an okeetee.
He's either a not very good Okeetee or a very beautiful normal. I would go with very beautiful normal because I wouldn't say he's got enough black to be an okeetee. Either way, he's a lovely little snake. Thank you for sharing photos of him |

I'm awful with morphs but I know when I see a gorgeous snake . Slap wrist for handling early though .
The best thing to do if you want to know what his morph is is to post photos showing his full body, belly and eye in the 'Corn Snake Morphs' section. That's where the experts hang out .

Difficult. Like Moppet had said, Okeetees are selectively bred...originally, Okeetees came from one specific locality. But there are various types of Okeetees - for example, I have an Abbotts Okeetee - from the Abbots line, selectively bred for the thick black saddle borders. There are Extreme Okeetees, very similar. In theory, for a snake to be an Okeetee, both parents must have been okeetees.
I have also read on an American forum, that all Okeetees ( and also all Sunkissed morphs ) completely lack the black melanin in the very topmost layer of skin - the one they shed -( except for the bits on saddle borders ) - hence the very bright, clean colours. I can confirm this as far as my Twid is concerned - his shed skin is completely clear, apart from the rings round the saddles. My other two always show at least a little bit of "dirty overwash " on their sheds ( so the skin might look faintly grey, when folded )- but not Twid, his shed is as clear, as if he were an amel - but showing the saddle rings.
Quite often, when just one parent was an Okeetee, the babies are still much prettier than usual, so it i possible that yours is part Okeetee at least. His background colour certainly looks very bright and clean, and he also has very bold and nicely defined chequer boarding on his belly, another " Okeetee trait". He definitely hasn't got thick enough saddle borders to be an Abbots or extreme though. But, the original Okeetees in Bill and Kathy Love's book ( here I go again, sorry, The Corn Snake Manual , page 75, lol ), actually haven't got massively thick black borders, either.
Sorry if I don't make sense, I'm tired today, and it's late...
Whatever he is, he certainly is a very nice looking snake...in fact, if he was a girl, I'd come and steal him, for my Twid... :-) |

Thank you everyone for the feedback on Aztec's colours...that really helped
Aww it's a shame that Aztec isn't an Okeetee...but he has so much character that it doesn't matter what colour or morph he is...I don't care as Aztec's personality shines through more than his colouration.
Thanks for everyone liking him and I will take some more photos soon.

Herriotfan - very true statement...especially as he's far more curious about things than Inca ever was...he's currently curled on his new branch watching every move I make lol. |

Absolutely nothing wrong with Carolina, especially so beautiful as this one :-)
I'd still guess he must be at least 1/2 okeetee, as he does look very okeetee- ish on all the pics, except maybe the second one ( and that's not the best light :-) ) |

Lol, love it - if a boy, it's a Carotee, if a girl, it's an Okelina |
