I decided to try a size up for fluffy (2,5 years)
I gave her a bigger mouse.
She tried to eat it and spend ages trying.. It then kind of split in half and she still kept trying.. After a while she let go and is now swooshing through the vivarium as if shes having a panic affack.. Her mouth is a little open too and its really scaring me..
What do I do? |

Sorry, can't be of much help, but had to reply! I have no experience with anything like this, but to start with, I'd think -
1. Stay calm yourself
2. Keep an eye on her
3. If you are still worried in the morning, call a vet
4. If she deteriorates or you cannot stand to wait until morning, call a vet
She is probably fine, try not to worry they are quite hardy creatures.
Hopefully someone with more experience/better advice will be along shortly!

I wonder if she's still in feeding mode, especially if the mouse had split and she can still smell it ( remember, their main sense is smell ).
The part open mouth could just be that she still hasn't aligned her jaws properly, or it could be that she can't do it, and it's upsetting her. Have you tried offering her a much smaller mouse, to see if she will eat? |

That must have been worrying Leasha  . Snakes do sometimes do strange things that we can't understand. Wheels gave you great advice and I also agree with Razee  . How is she now?
You say you gave her a bigger mouse. I'm assuming that there wasn't much of a bump after she'd eaten the smaller size? How much does she weigh and what size mouse did you move her up to? It may have been that she was just a bit freaked out about what happened. Try putting yourself in her position of trying to eat something that was bigger than you were used to and having to spit it out. Not nice and very frustrating for her I'd have thought. Personally I'd suggest you give her the size she was on for a couple more feeds, on normal feed days, to settle her back down to eating before attempting to move her up again.

She's 2.5-3 yrs.
She was fine the next day..
I think she made me freak which made her freak even more haha.
She's actually in shedding mode today and we had a cuddle last night :)
Im still not sure what happend. The mouse wasn't that much bigger.. She gets small adult ones now and I tried to move her up to a normal sized one.
Guess I'm going to wait till the end of the year till I try again :) |

I'm glad she's ok . I remember the first, and only, time it gave Asher a chick. It took him over half an hour to eat and at one point he was literally standing on his head trying to get leverage to get it in . A few times I though he was going to come off it but he was determined. I was definitely freaking out!
I must admit that I'm surprised she's only just moved up to smalls, although I know how differently snakes grow. Storm is a CB12 and he's now on mediums.
There isn't any rush to move her up, as long as she's putting on weight between each feed. You'll know when it's right to try again and remember that she can handle more than you think.
