Posted - 11/03/2012 : 15:10:06 I just went to one of the two local reptile shops (the one I'm increasingly getting frustrated with) and as a test I bought a pinkie of the smallest proportions. For demonstration in this picture is Duke's rat, Sanke's rat, Spot's mouse and then Hal's pinkie.

My monthly food bill usually comes in at about £20 which although I could get it cheaper if I bought bulk its not too bad. So anyway:
GUESS THE PRICE OF THE PINKIE MOUSE . . . . . . . . .

55p
Last straw unfortunately for this particular shop, I was splitting my business between the 2 in the area but the other shop is hands down better in pretty much every way.

Posted - 12/03/2012 : 01:05:45 My pet shop is expensive for mice, but even if i ran out i wouldnt buy their mice, look like they put mice in plastic bag and wacked with a mallet, bag/mice all messy and covered in blood, asked if they had fuzzys ages ago, brought out pinkys and said i was wrong, worse thing was she was so haughty the way she spoke to me, just gave the dozy cow a disgusted look and walked out |

Posted - 11/03/2012 : 22:25:22 My local is lovely and cheap, 29p for a pink and a £1 for a jumbo, and everything else inbetween is well priced! I don't buy anything bigger, so I can't comment on that :> |

Posted - 11/03/2012 : 20:38:08 I only pay 45p a pinkie, and even that is quite high compared to what you can get them for. 55p is ridiculous. |

thats right or you can get 4 for £1.40, i get mine from p@h but thats cause i heard horror stories about the cheaper pet shop refreezing their pinkies! plus i don't like their standards so refuse to fund them! |

Posted - 11/03/2012 : 19:15:12 Actually having read a horrific thread somewhere else where the eyes were missing and the skull was exposed, I'd rather pay extra for mice if I know they were bred in the UK than cheap ones from Europe. |

now I get then for 16p each- from the lovely chap that bred the shoelace that eats them.
55p for a pink is creeping up into the realms of waste-water removal

Posted - 11/03/2012 : 15:32:27 Gosh, 55p is expensive! Our way that is the same as paying for a medium from a shop! |
