I've never seen one in the flesh before even though I heard one on a horse trek in California. They are stunning, and it rattled at me and anyone else in a 1 mile radius.

its a shame that coldbloodeds reptile reserve had a fire they had a stunning green anaconda. 3 different types of croc/gators. europes longest burmesse. they had some proper cool reps.

My local has a few DWA reps as well! A very shy little Spectacled Caiman called bud, who is very shy and has an awesome enclosure for one! There's also a shy monocled cobra who always peeks out at me, a puff adder that puffs up at anyone, a sawscaled viper who just sits there and a stunning Waglers Temple Pit Viper! He is a freaking amazing creature, so eyecatching, he's always sat on his perch just glaring at everyone xD

Its very true, you have to have a license for DWA. They are notoriously difficult to get. The rattler wasn't for sale my local shop has several display animals including a monitor that wanders round the place like a guard lizard lol.
Lili Posted - 14/04/2012 : 22:26:51
As cool as I have no doubt they having one in captivity scares me a little.I'm not sure about UK law but rattle snakes are the sort of thing I think you'd have to check local bylaws about here. often cities won't let you keep animals they classify as dangerous my city has specific law aginst burmese pythons, I've never had to look into poisonous snakes but I'd probably be really nervous if I found one in my local petshop

It was an experience and an unexpected one too, I was looking at an albino gopher snake that I like and I could hear this noise, gophers are known to imitate rattlers but it was at rest then I spotted the new display and had a look and there it was all curled up, tail in air rattling away.
