Posted - 04/09/2011 : 21:43:25 Hi there i am Huffy86's partner, we got Pablo on friday and i think he is settling in nicely. He has actually started to use his hide now instead of burrowing. One thing i need to ask is about handling... Im finding it a little nerve racking with the inital putting my hand in and getting him out, as he's a bit nervous and so am i lol. Any one have any tips? x |

Posted - 07/09/2011 : 18:38:55 Hi and welcome. Hope he settles in well. I'm sure you'll be handling him soon with no problem. I was shaking when I got my first snake when I went to pick him up as I was so nervous of hurting him with him being so small. |

Posted - 05/09/2011 : 00:38:16 welcome to the forum there are a good bunch ov people on here and u can learn a lot dont be afraid to ask questions no matter how silly you think they might be also i have a hatchling who when i first got her was very scared and quick when i picked her up she just wanted to get away from me so i left her for a week to settle in and tonite i went to handle her and she came to me and onto my hand so leaving them to settle is best thing to do, hope you have as much fun as i do wiv my bunch |

giving him time to adjust will benefit him in the long-run and make it easier for you too. just as an example: i recently rehomed and adult male corn, a tame family pet and i handled him when he arrived with no problems whatsoever. the morning after he arrived i put my hand in the viv to reposition the thermostat probe and he was very aggressive - tail-rattling, hissing, and struck at me 4 times. a week later, after a week to de-stress, i put mu hand in to pick him up and he was a pussycat they do get stressed, i'm sure Pabs will appreciate having that time to settle in |

Posted - 04/09/2011 : 22:09:12 Hiya, welcome to you too. Giving him time to settle in should make the experience alot less stressful for both of you. It will give both you and your OH time to get him used to your smells a bit before you start trying to get him out. You could always do the glove/sock trick too. If you and your OH do it then he could get used to having both of your smells around him |
