Is ot woth getting my 4 corn snakes insured, i have just got a quote for all 4 at £39.92 per year covering up to £5,000 worth of vet treatment?
Or if anyone has had to claim on their exotic pet insurance your stories would be helpfull.
Thanks! |

I looked into this with my dragons but thought money saved was a better option. Neadless to say I'm better off as never had a emergancy trip to the vets . Well apart from a Foster dog who ate throu my cupboard an ate the chlorine based cleaning tablets! |

Posted - 26/05/2012 : 14:55:02 Loupi Lou - i know horse insurance does that so basically you have to choose carefully when to claim. It is bad though that you pay but cannot claim!
Lotabob - i questioned Eeji on insurance and whether it wad worth getting and he doesn't have any neither. He suggested putting savings aside. |

Posted - 25/05/2012 : 21:04:31 I think it was Eeji who said he has kept LOTS of snakes for years and the most he has spent at the vets was £8. I actually cancelled my dogs insurance recently too, I read all the small print and to get a pay out from them I'd have had to jump through hoops so I decided to put my savings on the line as insurance and pay the money I would have paid for all the animals in my house into the savings account, that way its not dead money. |

Posted - 25/05/2012 : 19:16:57 how is snakie? i had to claim for colic for my horse and they now will not cover his entire digestive system, so he is no longer covered for vets fees |

Posted - 25/05/2012 : 15:54:14 Ive never heard of insurance companies doing that, money isnt the issue but just would have been nice if i had insurance to get the money back but hey ho...my snake is more important than money :D |

Posted - 25/05/2012 : 15:14:58 good luck at the vets. the other option instead of insurance is to put away what you would be paying on the premium in to a savings account. if exotic insurance is anything like horse insurance once you claim for a specific thing they will no longer cover for that condition, which seems to defeat the point of having insurance. |

Posted - 25/05/2012 : 10:40:06 I too looked into insurance and afterspeaking with a lot of people regarding this it seems none of them had insurance. If the worse did happen i have money in the bank to cover it. |

Posted - 21/05/2012 : 12:27:39 Thats what i was thinking, i just called up and got a proper quote and it came to £204.22 for the year for the 4. I do have the money for the vet bills if needed just didnt know whether it would work out cheaper to get insurance but it only covers £1,000 of vet fees and i know reptile vet fees and be quite expensive.
A33272 look at my post in the health section regarding me female snake (this is what made me think of getting insurnace) im pretty sure it might be the food i have fed her on wednesday last week, she hasny pooped as shes in shedding mode and i think its to high in her body for her to be egg bound, i fed her 2 large fuzzies) |
