Posted - 15/06/2013 : 23:34:34 Few feeding shots of Luna, offered her a chick (Diego refused it, so decided not to waste it XD). She struggled with the hips so I lopped off the legs and it went straight down.

Sneaky shot of where the leg ended up...

Posted - 17/06/2013 : 08:24:56 You are SO right about Luna's head shot looking like a dragon's, Nexivred !!
This going off their food during breeding season is totally natural and there isn't anything we can do about it....but it's so frustrating !!

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 21:57:34 I've had a good few months with my male not eating and he's fine, eating normally and it didn't seem to make any difference to him. They are more than capable of long term fasting. There was a program on the other night about a Black Wolf Snake that only eats one month a year and nothing for the other 11 months!! That's extreme but they survive. Has anyone ever fed eggs to their corns? |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 21:28:55 Great pics, and hope he eats soon, Kellogs went 3 months, and others a lot longer, and they were all still really healthy, its us that really panics! |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 19:01:37 Tried just about every trick possible to try get him to eat, not happening. Luna is by far my favourite (not that I don't love Diego), she's so delicate. She's never struck, but gently opens her mouth to take her food. She has been known to aim for my finger, she likes to go up the tongs to see how big the food is, and prefers to take the part of the food held by the tongs. One time she went further and gently opened her mouth on my finger, it was adorable...it was easy to persuade her to take the mouse instead though XD |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 18:15:20 I do love Luna's colour .
There isn't really anything you can do to force a male to eat when all he's thinking about is a female Hayley. There are some tricks you can try, like warming the mouse, braining it....I finally got mine to eat by offering him smalls instead of the large mice he's used to. There are other ideas here - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3720
To be honest, although it is a worrying time because its not nice when your snake doesn't eat, it is natural for them not to and they are built to be able to go this long without food. You just have to let nature take its course .

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 17:40:18 They were in separate rooms for about a month, didn't make a difference so now they're next to each other again...
Thanks Scaly, everybody loves Boots XD She doesn't love everybody back though, she's so mean, it's adorable. |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 16:12:37 Is there been no tips on here that have helped at all with his need for a woman? like keeping your snakes in seperate rooms or was it the opposite, keeping them in the same room to see eachother so are aware of the presence of another snake. Seeing there are no other males to be in competition with.... Im just kinda rambling off possibnilities id personally try. im not an expert just thinking if i was in the situation :) |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 16:01:26 Well, the baby king loved the legs :P As you can see lol. Diegos still lady snake hunting, it's very frustrating. Hasn't stopped glass dancing since I got him. In 3.5 months he's only struck at prey twice, and both times spat it out again. If it gets to 4 months I'll be taking him to the vet for a checkup, he's lost all his body fat but is still well muscled and is otherwise okay. |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 15:34:21 Aww sorry to hear diego's not eating. It can be stressful for both animal and owner. Any reason found for his lack of apetite? i'll wait a while to buy chicks :) mine are still babies. It was more for future refrence :) |

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 15:30:21 A few of my local pet shops sell them, but one only sells packs of 25, which I didn't want. I found one that sold them individually for just 20p. You can also get them online (for example; http://www.frozendirect.com/shop/DAY-OLD-CHICKS.html). I was very surprised how big they were, much larger than the large mice I've been offering. Took a while for Luna to figure out how to eat it, and like I said she got stuck at the hips so I had to (very carefully) cut the legs off while she was holding it. I don't think I'll offer chicks again, I only got this one to try get Diego to eat something, it's been three and a half months since he last ate now...If I do offer chicks again I'll probably go for something smaller like a quail chick.

Posted - 16/06/2013 : 14:04:34 Looks as though the chick went down a treat there! So glad Luna enjoyed it, and that the legs didn't go to waste |
