Posted - 03/11/2010 : 21:08:05 Hi This week I am going to double feed Tiko, he does constrict so do I let him constrict one, start eating it then pop the other one close by or to constrict both, one after another??
The reason I am double feeding is his "small" mouse last week seemed a bit big so I am giving him 2 smaller "small" mice! Thanks |

Posted - 22/11/2010 : 14:23:33 My snakey did her first ever double feed |

Posted - 18/11/2010 : 17:40:42 Just give her her first pinky as normal, then once the first pinkie has reached about halfway down her body offer her another. Don't put the second pinkie in her mouth, just offer her it and if she's interested she'll take it. When I double fed Loki I waited till the first one was halfway down and then put the second pinkie in his tub with him and he found it and started to eat it. |

Posted - 18/11/2010 : 16:38:47 I am not nervous about it. But doublefeeding is like: when she has taken the pinky and almost eaten it, then i put the other pinkies head in his mouth so she eats both? |

Posted - 18/11/2010 : 15:56:51 I just meant if you weren't sure about whether you thought she was ready for two pinkies. I was really nervous on Lokis first double feed. He was fine though. |

Posted - 18/11/2010 : 12:34:08 Yes we also call big shops supermarkets-literally. What can i be unsure about?if she usually has one pinky then now she could have two...or might it cause a problem |

Posted - 18/11/2010 : 07:55:34 Sorry,I didn't read where you live and assumed it was in Britain. Asda is a supermarket, not sure if they are calles supermarkets where you live. Basically somewhere you can but all your food, claening products and household goods. Shouls have said she,not he. I meant she could be ready for a double feed, but if you're unsure about it then to leave double feeding for a couple of weeks and see how big the bulge is then. I think they lift their bodies up to help the food slide down, both mine do it. |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 21:52:05 Who/What is Asda? He? Ready for? Leave what? As often as she eats, about 5-7 days. She doesn't lift her up, she lifts half her body up... |
Mort13 |
Posted - 17/11/2010 : 21:21:31 On the biting and lifting their head up,both mine do that. Falcor especially |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 21:20:37 I just bought a digital kitchen scale from Asda. Doesn't have to be owt fancy. He may be ready, maybe leave it a couple of weeks and see how noticeable the bump is then. How often do you feed him? |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 21:19:09 by the way, is it normal that my corn "bites" the pinkie and then reaches as high as she can in the air and then swallows it in the air? |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 21:15:45 i cant tell exactly but 2-3 mins? and whan can weigh something in grams?Dont know anything like that beside in shops. And how much does that scale cost? |
Mort13 |
Posted - 17/11/2010 : 20:57:17 Don't worry, all snakes vary in size. I'm going to try Falcor on a double feed for the first time on Saturday and he's 4 months. How long does it take your snake to eat his pinkie?
A good idea is to weigh them then you can see if they are gaining weight. I put their feeding box on some scales, tare it and then put snakey in. Its put my mind at rest as when I first got Loki I was worried whether he was putting on weight or not. |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 20:11:42 Maisimadu, My youngsters are 14 weeks old one has a fuzzy every week and the other has 2 pinkies every week and will be moving to fuzzies in a couple of weeks. So yes I would double up on the pinkies then move to 1 fuzzy after 4-6 feeds of doubling up pinkies. I imagine that is very little bulge if any after eating 1 pinkly. Remeber a snake can eat something 1 1/2 times the fattest part of the body. Hope this helps. |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 19:42:54 my corn is about 3-5 months old and 40+ cm(if it helps) so should i start doublefeeding pinkies? |

Posted - 17/11/2010 : 11:52:59 hey i do exactly the same with zues he on 2 fuzzies has one takes it with aggression and takes about 5 mins then i offer the second n he takes it with slightly less aggression and it down within 2 mins!! and BAZ5453 i found the best way is to offer it if he full he will just ignore it! but yeah double feed pinkies for month or two before fuzzies! |
