i'd have to agree

I took on a non-feeder... got her eating eventually and all is well now but it took over 8 months and help from a local rep shop HOWEVER

with you saying it ate the pinky and then regurged it, that's not so good -there may be actual physical issues as well... normally a fussy one will just eat one day and that's it... but it much be very hard for you as you get attached to the lil things :(

but very naughty of the pet shop to just say you can keep it - they should have just asked you to bring it back - suggesting you keep it isn't the best idea especially if it is someone elses - bit odd!

I personally would get her back to the shop.
The shop shouldn't have sold you someone elses snake that they KNEW was a non-feeder, AND they shouldn't have then told you to keep it really.

ok thanks i will try but sadly that would be her last chance :(

Remember not to offer her any food for at least 10 days.
If she has brought it back up she'll need a bit of time for her stomach to settle and build back up to full working order.

just a question how big is its "cage"? when i got my first hatchling it didnt feed either tried alot of things and the best thing to do was to reduce the size of the RUB/BOX/CAGE it was in to something like what they are kept in at reptile stores it worked and slowly i am increasing the size.

Too much space can stress them out im told (im no expert) but you might want to try that aswell.

Good luck with it and hopefully it will start eating

You wont get in trouble for saying where it was from.
The reason I was asking is because I'm about 4 miles outside Bournemouth and fairly regularly travel about a lot and if it's a reptile shop that I know then I'd be happy to try to organise an exchange for you from the reptile shop. It's not easy for someone new to the hobby to have a snake that is a non-feeder straight from the onset.
If you're still unsure about posting where it was from etc, them email me. My email address is in my profile.

Well no, you need to make sure it's defrosted. Pop it in a cup with some lukewarm water, and leave it for an hour. Take it out afterward and roll it about a bit, to make sure the belly is all squishy and defrosted. I then like to have a pot of hot water, which I then dip the heads in, dry on kitchen roll, and then offer. It's not hot bu then, but it is nice and warm :)

Sorry, just to clarify, did you defrost the mouse in boiling water or just dip it in to put some warmth in it?

The reason I ask is that when some organic products (proteins especially) go over a certain temperature they cook, flavours and smells change and this may not be attractive to your snake.
Kehhlyr Posted - 04/08/2011 : 00:09:19
Out of curiosity, where did you buy it from? And where are you as well?
Aaron Dobson Posted - 03/08/2011 : 23:26:06
well she didnt feed :( yer she has not eaten since she hatched so they say ....so do i just try again in few days or week? i put the pinkie in boiling water and cooled then put small hole in head then put them in the feeding tub inside her home tank in complete darkness still there this morning :(
